look how small these snakes are as babies. heres a pic of it on a coat hanger wire so you can get an idea of how small it is.

oh and my big vine snake looks like its going to drop any day now. It looks like its going to have like 20 babies! but we will see.

JD, are you able to get the babies feeding?

I know that a lot has been written about the unique ocular developement in Ahaetulla, and apparently it plays a big role in how they hunt. I've heard that they are one of the very few snakes which is able to recognize a prey item by sight alone, even when the prey's motionless? If this is the case, how useful are their olfactory senses to them when they hunt?

Perhaps you could shed some light on this, since you keep a few and have experience with juvies, too.

That's a great pic, by the way. Hey, do their snouts become more elongate as they grow?

hey can reconise food from sight. they seem to go after it when its moving though.

i got all the babies to eat. they feed off of fish really well. they dont catch the food like a garter would... they actually strike at the water, which i found really interesting.

I am not sure if there nose elongates as they grow. but i would asume so. these are my first babies :) . and i have 2 more gravid ones. so i am excited!

I'm really impressed with your success with them. This has traditionally been a problematic species for most keepers.

You should be very proud of yourself and your animals.

Will you be offering any future offspring for sale?

Thankyou very much simon, that was a very nice comment. I sure hope to start breeding selling these snakes in the new year. if i do, i will let you know.
