i am curious, to those who have had eggs laid, which months do they typically lay them? or does it vary with each individual? i bought an adult female and she had been kept with a male and they were a proven pair. But now i have her home, since the 18th, and i wonder if she could have eggs? so i placed a dish of peat in the tank for her. is it too late in the year to hope for some eggs? thanks. Colleen

I havent breed yet but from what i have heard, a female could lay eggs throughout the year because she can retain sperm. The only thing is if she breed with that male which was house with her. Make sure to add some extra calcuim in her diet incase she is producing eggs, she'll need it. Best of luck and keep us updated.

thanks. i cover her crix with calcium, and she gets cgd in with her babyfood so i hope she is getting enough, i think so. maybe i should not handle her any more? i try to pick her up once a day for a few minutes, now i am worried if she does have eggs they will be harmed by my handling her.. what do you all think?

I heard that its safe to gently handle her, just make she doesnt jump and land on a hard surface.
Good luck

Sperm retention??? Where did that come from? They can breed throughout the year, as long as the temps stay in their preferred range. I know a few people who actually cool thier cresties to stop breeding behavior, but why do that when you can just separate the male? Regular intensity/frequency of handling won't hurt or bother a gravid female at all, the only difference is it's usually a good idea to let her be for about a week before she lays. Just relax and keep in mind that they're geckos, not glass.:p
