I live in alberta so I cant breed rats legally:(. I was wonder about the ins and outs of breeding rabbits. How would the snakes respond to them as compared to rats? How do they compare in size to rats, as far as initial birth size and growth? For snakes such as hog island boas, ball pythons or JCP would I be better with dwarf rabbits?

thx Derrick

Rabbits are a lot more work than rats. They grow slower, take up a lot more space, and are messy. I don't know how well Jungles take to bunnies, I would imagine just fine, but hopefully someone else will be able to comment on that. Ball Pythons will take rabbits, but balls are so finicky with their preferences, he may not want to switch. Hogs are pigs and take rabbits no problems. I would buy some feeders and try switching your ball and JCP on to them before you make the decision to get in to breeding them on the chance they will not take them. It would be more than a pain to have everything all setup and running only to find out your snakes won't take them

Rabbits can be a pain to raise, I tried one time and had one that would get nervous and abort (yuck) and one that would have the babies get nervous and stomp the babies to death. Good luck if you try though.

What kind of height is needed for a rabbit hutch?
