Well thanks to Casacrow for putting me onto Little Ray's Adoption Program, I am now the proud owner of a Red Eared Slider. Originally, I had the little guy setup in a 33 gal tank but felt he could use the extra space. So in the pouring rain, I went out into the backyard and dug up my pond (never did like it where it was), cleaned it all up and now it lives in what used to be my dining room. :)

He/she is about 8" in length, healthy, eats like a pig and very active. Guess he likes his new digs, as he hasn't stopped checking things out for the past three hours. Now my wife knows I have lost my mind..;) Here's a few pics of the new kid.

Thanks all,

The little guy has settled in nicely and is using the entire space to explore. Since taking the pics, I have removed a bunch of rocks to give him more room to swim. There is a submersible filter in the pond and I will be picking up a Python 25 today for making the water removal much easier

Cheers

Brian,

I'll take that as a compliment ;) Hope Rose doesn't want a diningroom set anytime soon. Problem is now I have a big hole in the backyard to fill.. Of course once you take your babies I will have more room and more empty tanks. Hmmm..wait til you see what I have in mind to fill them. BTW your little Mexican ate yesterday, on his own, F/T pinky, this makes three successful feeds in a row... See you soon..

Shannon, if I turn it into a dog house then that means I would have to get another dog. "Kelly" certainly would not use it (she owns the whole house as it is right now)..or were you talking about the dog house for me. If that is the case well I guess the "basement" is already dug. Come on over any time. Maybe you can help decorate my new "digs"

You and that sweet turtle are so lucky to have found each other. It's heartwarming to hear of a rescue RES that has already achieved 8 inches and looks so healthy!!

I can't understand why people treat these gorgeous creatures so poorly for the most part and am so happy to see such a handsome and healthy turtle living in a castle with a nice big moat. :D

Nice habitat. I might do something like that when I get my own place.

It's too bad there's not more people like you out there. Love the setup. We should all be envious of the hospitality and care you show for your new family member.
