i know this really isnt a good question as there are thousands of species but i was just wondering what the general care for a small frog maybe 2 cm big is. i found hm at a creek and my little brother really wanted it for his bday which was yesterday. i havent been able to identify it yet. my lil brother is 6 and i want to get him started at herps (of course i'll help him raise it too) lets see, the frog is brownish with darker brown stripes/spots on his leg, long toes brown splotches on its back a white belly, round eye and it can climb on glass. i'm getting a 10 gallon tank for it and plan on using some top soil and a water section. i'll see if it'll eat crickets and mealies cause there seemed to be a lot of tiny black crix where it was found.

pleeeeeeeeease dont yell at me for keeping this frog. i like my brother a lot and i saw the look on his face when he saw the frog. i'm trying my best to research and i plan on taking good care of it. i am aware of the dangers of wc-ing. i'd rather get advice on keeping amphibians than shouts and complaints. please dont yell

Let the frog go, your bro will forget about it in a day or so. you are setting a bad example to your brother.(It's not alright to take this frog outta its home for your pleasure it will most likely die in your care, you dont even know how to care for it). LET IT GO BE A FROG.

If you dont know what type of frog it is, and you dont know how long do you think it is gonna be alive with you. Im with Forman, let him go back where you found it, no offence to your bro but a 6 year old has the attantion spand of their own age. Its great you wanna get him into herps, why dont you get stuff from breeders and keep it as your own and let him handle it every now and then or even give him an offspring that you have produced.

i think it's a Northern Cricket Frog. I did some research on all the frogs/toads in north carolina.. there are only 30 species and the closest match was that. and the distribution and behavior matched. as for buying frogs.. no pet store around here sells frogs.. just lizards, snakes, furry animals, fish. and if i wanted to get a frog from a breeder it'd be some exotice tropical frog.. just wanna keep it simple. i know personally i would object to someone else keeping a wc but as hypocritical as i might sound i really think i can care for this one. and when i walk to the pond and creek every step i take like 2 frogs jump in the pond and there's millions of tad poles so i'm sure the species will continue to survive.. for a lil longer.. w/ all the construction they're starting there.
