Hey everyone,
I just thought I would share some info with you all about how I get my KSBs feeding on F/T outside of their cage.
When I received my anery KSBs in the spring they were already feeding on F/T outside of their cage. This was a big advantage for me because it meant that I could keep them on just about any type of suitable KSB substrate I wanted with out having to worry about them injesting it while feeding because they had been conditioned to feed outside of their cage. I also didn't have to go through the steps involved in making the switch myself which ment a time saving for me.
When I received my Nuclear KSBs from Roy Stockwell this fall however, things were a bit different. The snakes were feeding and that's all that one can reasonably ask for from a breeder, but they weren't feeding the way I wanted them to be feeding.
The snakes were feeding on live inside their cage substrate and all. That's fine because I received some beta chip with them which is safe to feed on. I can't get it locally though so a switch to feeding in a rubbermaid with out substrate would have to happen soon.
What I did to switch them was I started to place them into a small container over night with little to no substrate and a live pinkie. With every meal I cut back on the substrate until they were eating live inside an empty container.
Next I offered them stuned, then fresh, then F/T.
That's how I switched them. I hope there is some useful info in there some where that someone can use.
Cheers,
Trevor
