A pic or 2 of some nerodia clarkii compressicauda, or mangrove salt marsh snakes. Born this year. 1st a light one I think will turn out solid light gray/green.

Thanks, guys. If I had only a few snakes, these would be high on my list of "pets". They feed from your hand the instant they're born and have a very inquisitive nature that lends itself to interraction with you. Plus the color and pattern variation is remarkable. Great climbers with prehensile tails and a very mellow (for a watersnake) disposition. Only one out of many wild ones I found this year bit me. The babies never do. Great little snakes.

Mark,

Yes I totally agree with you~ and their scales are amazingly rough and the texture is just amazing when holding them~

And you forgot to mention one more thing, they're great hunters of fish! I have seen them 'hunt' fish in their little water bowl...man they basically 'push' their prey into it's mouth! That is one amazing skill!!!

Love it....again...I would of gotten them if I didn't have so many corns.....but there are just like millions more of snakes that I would like to add to my collection....so basically I might end up with the same amount of snakes if I didn't have that many corns...so just keeping one species might be better off for me...lol

They almost look like different species. They sure have incredible colour variety. Did you wild-catch them?

Tammy, these babies are from females I caught this year and bred with males also caught this year. I posted pics of the various colors and patterns of the adults and also when I released all (but these few) a couple months back. I wanted to make notes of their gestation and etc. All totaled, there was 0.0.75 babies and 2.5 adults.

Nice. They sure are beautiful snakes. Are you going to breed those three when they're older?

If I decide to keep these few, I will certainly breed them in the future. I think they would make an ideal snake for a "showcase" terrarium set up. If I only had the room.......
