i got my bp about 2 months ago.....

i was wondering if i were to buy a female bp and put em in the same cage would conflict occur or would they get along what do you think?

i'm making a 4' x 2' x 2' cage to house 2 female and 1 male ball pythons. as long as they each have a hide box, and plenty of room. they'll be fine. but if one or both stop feeding because of stress caused with eachothers company, seperate them.

Keeping snakes together other then in the breeding season is not recommended....

If one has internal or external parasites they all will have it...if one gets a respiratory infection they all will get it...if one has a contagious disease ...they all will get it....if.....if....etc...etc...

I hope u can see where im going with this....

If u dont have the room to house ur snakes seperately, then dont get any....
If u cant afford extra housing then get a second job or dont get a new snake.....its as simple as that....

Think about the snakes before u think about urself....

They most likely would not have any conflict,....but what happens if one of them dominates the other?

one may be too insecure to make a trip to the water bowl and dehydrate and die before u even now it....

But in the end its ur choice...and i hope u make the right one...

We have male & female balls living in the same enclosure with multiple hides, two water sources and plenty of heat gradient... they do just fine and in fact, have become quite bonded. We may pick up one more female in the future. The enclosure is plenty big enough... We also quarantine each snake before placing together for approx. 90 days - unless they have previously been housed together.

Sorry Grant but I completly disagree on that// I keep a lot of my snake together in cages and have never EVER had any problems with it. I personally feel that it gives them company. (i know most are solatary animals but .. mine are almost always together .. for example .. My two coastal are in a 7 x 2 half x 2 half .. and they always perch TOGETHER .. there is enough room for them but they seem to trully enjoy each others company.. as for contracting sicknesses .. u are right although that should not happen in the first place if the animal is properly kept..


My oppionion is 2 HEALTHY snakes can be house together without any problems if properly kept.. This has nothing to do with being to cheap and not being able to afford cages ( I have enough for all of them as they are seperated 2 month before the cooling season).

Sorry just me rambling on! It may not be better but iT is not worst either...

One thing to be considered with housing snakes together is that you cannot monitor bowel movements etc of each snake. If there is a runny stool, or what have you, you don't know which animal left it if there are more than one. You will not be able to monitor the frequency either for the same stated reason. Just one thing to take into consideration if you choose to house your snakes together......

That means u would have to take all snakes to the vet and quarantine....

When it would have been probably cheaper to buy seperate housing and KEEP them seperate from the beginning....
