well i decided to go ahead and build a small rack today. It will hold 12 rubbermaid 2220 (11.4L) when im done i just have to finish it off with the bottom shelf. It is just going to be used for all the smaller boas and pythons i will be getting. I am going to build a way bigger rack just for adult ball pythons down the road.

I dont think i did too bad for just a little over an hour building. I also have to get a back for it and i was going to maybe use peg board for the back but not sure, any suggestions?

As for the back, I would lean towards no back myself....

What are you planning heat wise?

i will be using 3 " heat tape for now as that is all i have, i just have to run it along the backs and i am pretty much done.

I should have it up and running tonight.

nice........:) I would go for no back to, and if later down the road you could put one of those under the bed type rubbermaids on there if ya wanted......

The nice thing about having a back on a rack, is you never push the rubbermade in too far, leaving a gap for a snake to escape.

Even putting some lattus on the back, if you are worried about ventilation, will help that little problem.

Is that made from the same peice of melamine that I saw in Calgary?

I "would" put a back.... just for the extra support, I'd be worried about spliting the shelves if the rack were ever to be moved and get out of square.

Does it "lean" or "wobble" without the tubs in it???

Even if you do wanna stay with an open back you can maybe just put a 1" by 6" across the bottom in back to act like a brace. Just another idea.

Looks great. I would put a back in as well. Peg board would work fine for you. Nice work.
