Ok we are about to begin building (when we get a frickin day off!)....
When we put the UTH under it , is it ok to just put the cage directly on it, or should we have the cage elevated up off of the UTH?? (if so it will be by 3 strips of wood one on each side and one in the middle, it will be up by a quarter of an inch.)

Just wondering which is recommended. We have our 3 tanks sitting directly on the UTH's......and it hasn't hurt anything.
Thanks for your opinons!

I assume it should be done like with an aquarium - UTH right on the bottom, but with the whole unit raised off the surface of whatever it's resting on to prevent excessive heat from building up. That's how I was planning on doing it, so if it's not right I'm all ears...

yes it should be raised up just a little bit to let some airflow flow under the tank.

But there are people like yourself that sit the tank right on top. I guess it just gives us a little peace of mind when we raise it up a bit.

ok it would be no problem to raise it, when we cut out part of the wood for the plexiglass then we will take that wood cut it into strips and put it on the bottom in 3 strips, it will be half an inch high..........is that to high, do you think it will need supplemental heat???
