Hi all....

I have a gravid female leo that has been gravid a long time. At least three months! I have brought her to the herp vet and he stated the eggs are not bound and she is healthy as a horse LOL

I am looking at bathing her in warm water to help facilitate laying of the eggs...a kind of spa treatment!

Does anyone have experience with the temp and length of the bath?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

One of my very first females encountered the exact same problem. She was gravid for a totaly of 4 months, was perfectly healthy and not egg bound. I just provided her with a moist hide/egg laying shelter and she eventually laid the eggs. You could try giving her a bath, and see if that works. All you need to do is fill up a rubbermaid with warm(not hot) water just so that it will cover the bottom of the female's stomach(so she doesnt have to struggle to keep her head above the water.) Leave her in there for a good 30-60 minutes, and make sure the water stays warm. If possible stick it on a heat pad or if need be replace the water when it cools down. Hope this helps you out a bit.

sometimes it helps if you put paper towels or a washcloth in the bottom of the container that you are giving them a bath in -- gives them a little more stability so they are not sliding around. Congrats and I hope she lays the eggs soon.
