OMG I didn't even know one existed. That is my Holy grail of reptiles! Wow I can't even guess at the price tag! An amazing tort. I wonder if it is really sensitive to UV?

Wow.... that is amazing! But if it is a true albino, why does it have the red spots on the fore limbs?

Cheers,
JJ;)

For the same reason it has red eyes...lack of pigment. It's a true albino.
Great pic,
Trevor

Albinos lack melanin, black pigment. Albino animals still have the red and yellow pigments (for example, look at albino bloods, albino corns, albino burms, albino balls...). Leucistic animals on the other hand lack all pigments, therefore being completely white.

Oh how CUTE! Seriously, what kind of price tag is on a little tort like that?

I seen one advertised on a website for I THINK $5000-$10,000 dollars.....I can't remember exactly though......

I think that's the one from the Tinley park show(Chicago) that was at Bob Clark's booth. He took it out for us and we snapped off a couple pics. Awesome little guy, and Bob only wanted $20,000 US for it...what a deal!

You want long term project, check this out:

grow up the lttle guy to maturity, let's say 10 years.

breed him/her and produce hets. lets say another year in total(incubation can last up and around 200 days or so.

Grow up the hets another 10 years. Breed them, incubate the eggs, another year.

That's a 22 year project before you are producing albinos for sale.

Crazy when you break it down like that! If I bought it today, I'm 29 years old, I wouldn't be producing albinos till I'm 51!!! LOL

Reptile HQ,

Bob is selling albino hets also, so if you buy the female albino and a male hets you should be producing albino redfoots in 5 to 7 years.

Very nice tort. I've seen a couple for sale before. I thought they were more like $1500 - $1700 the ones I saw. Very nice though. You keeping her or selling?

$ 1500 to $1700 where did you see those? I will buy them right away, for what I know this is the only one in USA I hatched this year, I have seen 2 more but they are in South America, this one is the first captive breed in USA

If someone told you that you have the only one in the U.S. they lied. Very nice tort and very uncommon, but 15 to 20 grand and the only one in the States, I doubt it.

The tortoise was priced at $20,000 USD at Bob Clark's booth, at the Tinley Park show in October. He took it out for us and we snapped off a few pics.

I too have seen a couple in South America. This Albino redfoot was the first one I've seen in North America, so no one is lying.
