For the most part they seem like a great org. If your a hot owner though note that "All venomous reptiles" are on thier suggested ban list as well as "All crocodilians"

After being threatened by the local rep that failure to join would result in problems for me and my fellow keepers, I'm skeptical of their intents. Add to that the reports from pet store employees that received PIJAC sponsored training in herp keeping. They came back from the session saying that the info offerred was insufficient and inaccurate. When those kind of comments come from "Trained Pet Counsellors", it really makes one wonder why the presentation was even made.

When it comes to PIJAC, I'm just gonna keep my seat on the fence until I see something positive with regard to herps.

Perhaps by getting involved, you could aid in the education and policy changes. Just a thought.

Hey, that prohib list looks very similar to the animals prohibited by my city's municipal by-laws.. hm....

Sorry BW, I've already tried that route with numerous other organizations and didn't care for the taste it left in my mouth or the uncomfortable sensation of having been subtly sod@^^!zed. I am of the opinion that PIJAC is nothing more than an extension of the commercial exploitation of herps that I rant and rail against on a daily basis.

This isn't anything personal, you go ahead and support them if you believe the cause is just. The conclusions I've drawn from my contact with them has lead me in a different direction.
