Looks like a retic to me... hard to say from those. We all know a snake can eat it's own body weight in one go so if a retic gets to be 150-180 pounds or so it could easily eat any one of the people in those pics. I saw a show where an African Rock swallowed a gazelle, giant horns and all so a person of average size wouldn't even be a challenge to a snake that big. On the other hand maybe the pics are fake... Maybe it's that David Blane a**hole, going a real long way for what passes for a magic trick. Or it's the boys from Jackass: "Hi, I'm Johnny Knoxville and this is being eaten by a snake".

When I saw the header, I was thinking of this A&E special they had on last week about circus sideshows and the one tent mentioned that had a sign "150 pound man eating chicken" and people bought tickets thinking it was a humungous chicken eating someone but it was really a 150 pound man sitting on a stool with a bucket of chicken...

Okay first off, look at the quality of that first picture compared to the last 3. What kind of crap is that? Are they trying to make special affects with the blurry pics or something? I mean, c'mon that is so fake. Plus why are there kids all around the snake... would anyone really let their kids watch a snake being cut open to find a human body? Also, compare the lumps in picture 1 and 4... I dunno about you, but they both look totally different with the fourth one being kind of deformed, and would a human body actually be that round? Or would it be kinda long and slender, but thick? I agree, this is BS... crap like this gives snakes the bad rap they don't deserve. It's a wild snake anyway, it's not like it was someone's pet... god whatever....

A snake does not always eat from the head down a snake could easily start at the feet, which does make this possible.

Of course a snake could take down the shoulders, they do bend and dislocate. I've seen shows on anacondas that eat prey larger than most humans. Point being wether that is a reitc or even an Aff. rock they could eat a human if they wanted to. Not saying that those photos are true but they very well could be.

I'm with most on here for sure a snake the size of the one in the picture could eat a human. If Retics, Rocks, Anacondas, can eat a deer, or a croc, or so on. Then why could they not eat a human think about it.

Think about it, how much pressure could a snake of that size apply? It could easily have enough power to break/dislocate your collar bones for "easier access" to the rest of the body. I could see it, whether or not those pictures are real.

A large constrictor is perfectly capable of swallowing a small human........ I cant see the croc pic being a fake....... Crocs cant kill and eat people???? Ofcorse they can...... Retics have killed and eaten people........ In those parts of the world, people are smaller and do not have the same body mass as we do...... If a snake can eat a 120lb gazelle why cant it eat a 100lb human....... Trust me, it is not out of the realms of reality......

I agree that snakes can eat people and there have been reports. There was a case of a 10 year old in Africa who got eaten by a rock python last year I believe.

Gregg, I agree. Just because its unheard of for a snake to eat an average, American or Canadian (as we tend to be a bit larger) it's not a myth that a retic couldnt take an average person on that side of the world..

Large constrictors can and do swallow people from time to time. The anacondas are the worst offenders, but credible reports of rocks and retics are out there. To the best of my knowledge we do not have any true pictures of a fatal constrictor attacks. The listed croc pic is legit. It was a salty, but has been passed around as part of a hoax claiming it to be an American that grabbed a guy off a golf course in FL.

While doing educational shows, we have talked to many people from Africa and South East Asia who have told us that the biggest reason for carrying their kids on their shoulders was to avoid having one "go lost". Not to tigers or lions, but to snakes.

I've read that a 16' african rock python was found with a 160 lb gazelle inside of it.

A lot of people in South East Asia are small boned, and light weight compared to the average European.

If these pictures are real, which they very likely are, then I do feel sorry for the persons family, that these pictures get circulated in offices across the world as much as they do.

Those are some nasty pictures I wished I would have took the warning more seriously. My vote is that a snake of that size could eat a human no problem just my thoughts though. About the pics......... I dont know if they are real or not all I know is I dont want to see them again.

The snakes head is barely bigger than that guys hand.. So it looks.. Wasn't aware they were able to eat something about 4 times as big as there head.. As for JD's pics I remember a story line about the snake being caught and killed in South America, and being a retic just makes me think for a few seconds.. DO you guys have the story line?

Also Kameran from Bushmaster reptiles know very well about the history of these photos. In fact most professional breeders knows everything about them, ask Bob Clark!
However before you go and disturb these peoples with something they’ve been asked too many times already, let me tell you THESE ARE NO FAKE PHOTOS real peoples died and real families still suffer the lost. Also I can vouch from experience large pythons in my care have surprised me by eating pigs I tot way to big for them! How many of you have herd about hatchelling retic eating an adult rat? Well the proportions are quit similar to these photos.
