View Full Version : Loves crickets, Not interested in greens
Well my little one is an eating maching. At a little over 2 months old he/she is consuming 10-15 crickets, 3 times a day(30-45/day). I may need to order 1000 :). Anyways... I have been putting in some romaine and mustard greens in everyday and he shows no interest. I usually put the veggies in first thing in the morning, and his first cricket feeding is around 11 or noon. He doesnt seem to interested in eating early in the morning anyways. So should i add maybe a small amount of fruit, hopefully enticing him by the smell of it? Or should I just be patient and eventually he will be interested?
Thanks in advance!

maybe hand feed him with a long leaf. thats how my guy eats his greens.
That's pretty normal for young beardies that weren't offered greens soon after hatching. Smearing a little fruit on salad items does indeed work but you risk them getting hooked on the sweet stuff and just eating the goodies and leaving the greens behind.
I find that just popping greens in their mouths when they are gaping works wonders.

2 months, still a little young.....When i got my little guy, at 2 months, he didn't like greens at all, he wouldnt even touch it, but as he got older, he started to taste it, and he liked it so now he eats lots of greens. But keep trying, he'll try it someday:)

Most reputable breeders start beardies on greens before crickets and they eat salads well by the time they are a week old. No such thing as too young for salads, just be persistent. Young beardies tend to be more timid about trying new things, once they are more secure in their environment they tend to become more adventurous and start trying new foods.
