What do u think about Ball Pythons versus Burmese ????:)

They are very different... balls grow to about 4-5ft, while burms can double that easily in their first year.

If you are looking for a starter python, a ball would be a good choice. Burms are easy to care for too, but their size when fully grown can be daunting.

why would u ask this? no offence, maybe u are new to the hobby, but just wondering...Were these recommended to you or something?

Burmese get much larger than ball pythons... therefore they eat much more, take up a lot more room, and cannot be safely handled with only one person around. Bigger enclosures and lots of food also equals a lot more money. I wouldn't recommend a burmese to anyone that is relatively new to the hobby. I also do not recommend ball pythons as a first snake either, as they are easily stressed and their feeding strikes can be frustrating to novice keepers. Burmese typically have much better appettites and are not as easily stressed however. Appearance-wise, I prefer ball pythons to burmese... not a big fan of the way burms look.

sorry, i didnt sound very nice in my other post. i was just wondering cause if you were new to the hobby i was wondering if someone gave u some weird recommendations, and if you were experience you would prolly know about them already...

burms would be for an advanced keeper (or shall we say Keepers, for reasons Linds explained) ..and they will eat and eat and eat.. everything was covered by linds really :p

First let me say welcome to ssnakess.

I'm not partial to burm or ball pythons myself. I think balls are cool looking little snakes but to tempermental with eating for me. Burms are about as gentle as the big snakes come and have a couple of cool varieties, like the albinos and the labrynths. As far as pythons go I like Green Tree Pythons, Carpet Pythons and Retics. If I were to recommend a snake to someone just starting I would recommend a Carpet python.

Do you already own any snakes?

welcome to the site!
If you are asking which I think you should go for..I'd say a ball. Burms get very large, very fast and even though they don't have tough requirements, I really wouldn't recommend them for a beginner (assuming you are, of course!).

The burmese would win in a fight... obviously

LOL where are all these gentle burms everyone speaks of? I've encountered more touchy or downright crazy burms more often than not

I agree, neither are really that good for beginning herpers. I personally like them both and feel they are rewarding to keep. Although if I was going to get a large python, I'd go with either a retic or a rock, something with a little life in it. All the burms I've seen have been rather... unenergetic, to be kind. But a 7 foot normal burm freshly shed is sure nice to look at.

Pop by sometimes Linds, I can show you two that are definitely gentle giants (assuming you don't have hands that smell like snake food anyways ;))
