wild cought amazon?

ive been looking at this amazon tree boa ...its an adult but its wild cought.... i really like it but i always stopped myself from buying bec its wildcought. wat r the chances of this snake doing well in captivity????? i know its a bitch wen it comes to handling!!!!

Well, If your experienced you should be okay. Just make sure its in good health, a stop by the vet wouldnt kill you either. Not sure what else to say.

I've kept them before, WC and CB. Beautiful colors, but either way, they seem to end up nippy even as adults and with regular interaction. (although some can be sweet little buggers).

WC's seem to adjust very well, just like Green Trees, and the only ones that I've had a little trouble acclimating are the Emeralds, which will throw up their food here and there.

Since then I have learned to appreciate Amazons just for their color, and have stopped keeping them. But they do make awsome displays provided the right branching, humidity, heat, ect.

WC Atbs tend to do quite well in captivity. Just try to make sure it has had a clean fecal or has been treated for mites.

The only reason against it is that you are supporting the WC herp industry. I know buying one animal won't make a difference, but that would be the major argument against it.

But otherwise, go for it, you'll give a nice animal a good home!

I personally like to stay away from WC, even though its hard when dealing with ATBs....as long as the animal is treated for internal parasites and is eating well, I think you'll be OK. If you get an adult, be prepared to get bitten, however.

If you get a tree boa that you plan on handling, be prepared to be bitten. These are showcase snakes - they are not lap snakes. If you manage to find one that won't take your face off, more power to ya... but this is one of those species that you don't own unless you are prepared for a little game of tag now and then.
