Anyone ever witness this type of behavior?

One of my carpet pythons, she has a great feeding response, but a strange eating habit. She takes the food, and then hold it for AT LEAST an hour, without moving at all. Sometimes longer. Than she procedes to look for a starting point. After a half hour of searching (not an exageration) she will start eating, but the past 2 time it has been rear-end first. Overall, the whole process take about 2 hours. Has anyone else ever witnessed anything like this?

my male Bco is similar even after 7 years, never did consider him a very bright animal lol

My female BP takes forever to eat, similar to how you describe your snake eating.

She takes a minimum of 1 hour per food item, it drives me nuts!!! She's such a slow poke! My others will eat much faster, anywhere from 2 minutes to 20 per food item.

I guess she just likes taking her time and savor her meals!

same with my cal king, he will strike and squeeze, sit there for like 35-45 min, then look for the head, hes good at finding the nose, and then downs it by about the hour mark

Thanks for the input. I bought her off some hippies, and wouldnt be suprised if they had got her high. She seems a little "slow"

Our baby corn snakes ALWAYS try to Get their food down sideways first, then when they finally realise theirmistake, they then hunt for the nose.

All our snakes used to come out & eat in another tub, but for some reason, they suddenly refuse to eat anywhere else but in their vivs.

My male Bci looks like is falling asleep over the mouse :D...
He grabs it, he coils his body around it and sometimes remains motionless with the mouth on mouse's body.
A few times i touched the end of the tail and looked like woke up immediatly. Suddenly started to search for the head...
Wired behaviour...maybe not so much hungry? Just a guess...

The rock I feed goes for the rearend first most often. Thought he was going for my hand at first but he grabbed the rump. Strange when the nose is within closer reach... I kinda figured he was about as smart as a rock...

My female BP takes a good 5-10 mins to constrict food items no matter how dead they are to start out. I've never fed her live, but she was a year old when I got her. After that she's pretty quick to eat. 5 mins or so from when she decides it's dead enough to eaten.

my snake prefurs my hand to her food, she rears up and strikes at my hand wen her foods about 1 inch infront of her, luckely i use some surgical tongs, still got 1 lil scar frm her.

My baby IJ occaisionally takes a rat pink tail end first. I first saw it and thought wtf???? Then again due to their shape, I guess that a rat pinkie is about same either way lol
