Gordo has been doing good so far and I offered him his first meal today. He has been nice and active, using all the hide spots and no signs of being sick. Here are a few photos I wanted to share with everyone.

Thanks! I know I was worried he wouldn't eat, it took him a while to grab that 1st mouse. No problem you can use them as long as they remain on the forum :)

Temperment.......A++++++++, not a single twitch or anything when I peek into his cage. He must have been handled often.

Just wondering, How big does everyone think he will be by April/June?? and then maybe a year??

I want him to get nice a fat, but I want him to be a nice and fat healthy blood, and not obese, I see these snakes sometimes and they just look way too large for their body compared to others.........or is it just me?

I know they are lazy animals and all, but in captivity they do lack the space to move and waist energy and burn some calories, right??

None the less, they are extremely beautiful! I plan on getting all three types by the end of this comming summer.

From what I understand, bloods grow a bit slower than other boids. I'm getting a 2 year old red blood this week, and she's maybe 2 feet... if that. By the time your blood is 5, you'll pretty much have a fully grown one.

Thanks........This little guy is kinda greedy, should I offer him more than one mouse per feeding or should I just wait a few days and feed him another?

Last night and today I paid him a visit (cleaned out his water bowl last night and just checked on him the morning). Both times that I went in there he came right out of his hide box (half way or so), not to attack but to smell.

I have read that bloods shouldn't really be offered more than one mouse per feeding??? Is that correct?

Great looking snake there Lu!

when it comes to feeding, you can indeed feed 2 prey at one sitting. just make sure its not too much for your snake. for example, if your snake is regularly on medium rats, but you only have smalls in the freezer, then my all means feed it two smalls for that one feeding. If your snake is on say....large rats, and you have large rats...then just feed it one every week... big meals and multiple feedings arn't really necessary other then preperation prior to breeding.

Best thing for you to do is pic a day of the week for feeding, and feed it a good sized meal on that day.

@invictus
at 2 years old, a female red should be a lot bigger then close to 2 feet!
either it has not been fed adequately or you have been misinformed of the age.
ive yet to see a properly fed yearling under 2-3 feet. at 2 years of age, it should be around 4 feet and thicker then a pop can for sure!

just my opinion anyways, good luck with your new bloods both Lu and Ken!!

Now that I have been really pulled by this new hobby, I am looking to get a Borneo and a Red now........whats up with the Leopards?? I'll make a post on them.......ask a few questions.
