Flexwatt heat tape

I don't want to sound like a moron, I know that Flexwatt is the stuff to use as far as heat tape goes. My question is, should I use the 3" wide or 11" wide? My rack that I'm building is going to be 48"T x24"D x36" W.... ? I was thinking just the 3" wide would do it, but just want to make sure I'm thinking right...(since that doesn't come about too often!) :D LOL please help me out....

You can also get 4" heat tape from www.beanfarm.com . It all depends on what you're housing. Corns, kings, balls and etc can do fine with the 4" tape. If you have BCI's, Burms and the larger snakes, then get the 11". I have both and the 11" stuff isn't all that necessary for what I keep on my racks. I only really need it for my adult balls and even they can get away with 4" or 3"... :)

Cool, thanks. I am housing baby BP's and adult BP's on the same rack. I was looking at Big Apple Herps, I didn't see the 4" tape, so I will go to beanfarm.com... Thanks alot, :D

What really matters is the size of tubs you are using in the rack and which direction they slide in. If you are putting one large 36" long by 24" wide tub on one shelf you want to use 11" flexwatt at one end.
Now, if you are using multiple tubs on one shelf and are sliding them in then I would use one strip of 4" tape along the back of the shelf. So the front of the rack is the cool side and the back is the warm side.

Ideally, your heat tape should cover between 25-33% of your overall floor space. Read that somewhere once. Don't remember where. Good advice though.
