Awesome job, Brian! Isn't it awesome showing kids reptiles? When Erin and I were working with Scales Zoo at the TARAS show, it was the fascination of the kids that made it totally worthwhile. I'm looking forward to doing some school shows myself. :)

Thanks for the kind words, I highly recommend everyone that has some knowedge do a show. I had a tone of fun and gave some good advice i believe. I also do them for free to gain experience.
I opened with a Big eyed Purple diamond back stuffed toy. lol
Thanks for the support

Great to hear, I always love teaching people about snakes that i work with (can't bring them in but my cube is plastered with pics). It's also fun to teach kids and see people get over their fear of snakes.

Congrats Brian! I used to show my tarantulas back when i was in high school and college. I also did it for free as I got to miss classes to be able to speak in front of others. It was great experience for me and real fun. I would love to do it again but I am too shy now to talk in front of people. I guess it would be so bad in front of little kids or even if I had someone with me. Anyways, enough mumbling, just wanted to congratulate you.
Take care,
Oh and just curious, what kind of tarantula did you bring?

Brian,
The totally pets show was a bit different cause i was answering questions. It's hard for me to just go in front of people and talk. Grant had asked me to do a presentation on their stage and I had to refuse because of it. as for other tarantulas to "show", I would have to recommend these following extremely docile and do not move much species. The pink zebra beauty as it is affordable even at adult size (roughly $45), Brazilian blacks are expensive as adults but I sell 1/4" for $24, the chaco golden knee is also expensive as an adult but I sell 1/4" babies for $30. The red knee is also very nice but tends to flick hairs which isn't too good for kids especially when their face is at the height of your hands. 1/4" goes for $40. There are many other species that are docile (will not bite) but tend to flick urticating hairs.
Take care buddy,
hehe, it looks like you were spraying the kids with your bottle if they got to close to the snake LOL.

My guess is hand sanatizer.
Wow! Thats great what your doing and i would love to do the same but i am a bit ruluctent to do so. i do have a small show planed some time this year for the class room and teacher who was responsable for my snake addiction! but when i was trying to get involved with NTGSR (North Texas Giant Snake Rescue) the man who started and was in charge of the whole thing moved to a diffrent city 5 miles away and offerd to help the local anamal contral saying that if they had any snakes come threw he would gladly take them and try to find a home for them. Well they thanked him by telling him he has to get rid off all his snakes within 48 hours or he will be fined a LARGE amount of money for every day he still had them. and i KNOW where i live it is agest city ordanace so i dont want to risk looseing my babys. but good job and keep it up!!!
Its hand sanitizer... alcohol gel.
