Can someone please give me a list of record sizes for the top five largest constrictors, I want to make a graph comparing there sizes and comparing them to humans. I only need the lenghts but if I could get the weight and girth it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Adam!

After some research on the internet this is what I found, not sure how accurate these are:
From the NERD site:
The record size for the Reticulated Python is 33 feet and 300+ pounds.
From Pet Central:
The Largest Green Anaconda recorded in 1944 was 37 1/2 feet.
Hope this helps.

i have an article here stating the record for a retic is approx 36 feet at 300 + pounds, and an anaconda at approx. 33 feet and 450 pounds the third largest is a coastal carpet at 26 feet and nearly 300 pounds, followed by an african rock at 24 feet nearly 300 pounds that all it lists and not much more detail i'll try to find out more for you, as for the fifth my guess would be a burm probably low twenties in length and mid two hundreds for wieght.

First we need to get the top five straight before we can start looking for info on record lenghts. Retic, Rock, Scrub, Coastal Carpet, and Ananconda. This sound right?

The Coastal Carpet python, I don't think this is correct? I no the order for the top five it goes Retic, Anaconda, Burmese, African- Rock, Scrub. I am a little iffy on the scrub python but I remember at the zoo they have a list of the top 5. I just need to no there sizes so i can make this graph but everything I read is a little different than the next article I read, its realy anoying! LOL. All your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks Adam!

Well I am not good with numbers but with the species I will give you you can do a bit more reserch and find there record length indavidualy.

1) Reticulated Python
2) Green Anaconda
3) African rock
4) Burmese Python
5) Scrub Python

Now I could be mistaken on the las one but that is a general over view.

I would go with that one, i dont think a coastal carpet would get 26 feet. i would beleave it if there was a pic. but dont think one would get that big. i could be wrong but doesnt sound right to me.

Depends on how much proof you need. There are big differences between the largest documented anacondas, and the largest "reported" anacondas. There are people even today looking for 60' giants in the Amazon. I suspect the same holds for retics and other large species.

"The Anaconda is the largest snake in the world. The largest anaconda ever known was 100 feet long."
http://www.loelem.santacruz.k12.ca.us/classrooms/room18/projects/anaconda/anaconda.html

Although it is difficult to find an authentic record of the largest anaconda, a measurement of 37 1\2 foot has been widely accepted by scientist."

http://allsands.com/Science/Animals/anacondasnake_vdi_gn.htm

"Some people do not accept the 37 1/2 ft. Colombian anaconda because after shooting the snake and measuring it, the expedition went off and ate lunch before attempting to photograph and skin it. While they were gone, the snake, (apparently still alive) crawled or swam away."

http://www.unmuseum.org/bigsnake.htm

On the subject of anacondas, if you like these guys and haven't read Jesus Rivas' work, you should. It can be found easily on the net.

Biggest doesn't nessassarily mean longest either.

no no no, you gise got it all wrong the list goes

1. Retic
2.Anaconda
3.African rock
4.Scrub python
5.Burmese

If i remember correctly thats how the order goes, scrubs are always the fourth one, on 2 different reptile shows killer instict and croc hunter they said that the largest scrub ever found was around 27ft long.

Thanks,
Ben

I always thought the Green Anaconda was larger than a retic.. I rememebr reading somewhere that it was recorded alot larger.
There are reports of anacondas that exceed the record accepted length of the retic, but they are not currently being accepted by the scientific community. Guinness recognized a 42’ conda as the largest ever for many years, but later changed their record to a 32’9” retic citing lack of evidence as the reason. Currently the longest scientifically accepted record is the 32’9” retic killed in Indonesia in 1912, follow by a close second Rock Python, 32’2”, which was killed on the Ivory Coast in 1932.

I always thought that african rocks are smaller then burms.
In terms of averages, the burms are longer then the rocks. If you compare the largest specimens recorded, that unusual rock killed in 1932 boosts the rocks to second in terms of length.

Top fives: (in terms of average length)
1. Retic
2. Burmese
3. Anaconda
4. Rock
5. Scrub
Top five: (in terms of one time measures)
1. Retic
2. Rock
3. Burmese
4. Anaconda
5. Scrub
Top five: (in terms of reports)
1. Anaconda
2. Retic
3. Rock
4. Burmese
5. Scrub

I am not familiar with any cases of a carpet python exceeding 20’, and do not believe they should be included in the top five.
