These babies are only a couple hours old.
This is my 3rd litter of my high orange "nuclear" line for 03.(two litters in last 24 hrs)
Some of you might recall this is the line I have been working on since
1986 and they generally are born light orange and end up a bright tangerine after several
months.
BUUTT...
I got 3 weird chocolate brown ones in this litter(1.2)....this has never happened before
They don't have a hint of orange on them and even the eyes are brown....
I'm not sure if this is a new mutation, or whether they're just
het for ugly! LOL
guess I'll have to grow them up and find out...
I was hoping that after all these years of line breeding something neat would pop up.
An albino or anery would have been nice, but what the heck are these, chocolate Kenyans? Rather than having excessive orange/red pigment, they seem to be missing it all.
This is what keeps it interesting year after year.

Here's how the best orange ones turn out after several months
It will be interesting to see how those brown ones look in 6 months.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone... I'll be sure to keep you all posted... It seems I've got a few American's attention with these already as I also posted them on KS... been offered a trade for paradox flame albinos , but I think I need to keep these.
Here's another picture comparing the chocolate to it's sibling after I washed some of the dried birth residue off them.
I'm already looking forward to them shedding in a week, just to see how the color changes...

LOL... when I first looked at them all that came to mind was that you produced "Poo Poo Kenyans" :p They actually look kinda neat in that last pic. Definitely going to be interesting to see what happens to them as they mature. LOL never know what to expect with these scaly kids!

Those chocolate Kenyans are AWESOME!!! I'd take a few. :) And those electric orange ones are CRAZY! :)
Hey, just noticed this thread! Those kenyans are neat. Beige Kenyans!
I'll agree with everyone about those "nuclear" ones. They are nice. My female is intense dark orange, with a ton of speckling, but the male (which Roy convinced me to get) turned out awesome!!!
