What could there possibly be to love about that?
Sorry, but there is nothing cool, or honorable, about being hit by a giant python. It is crap like this that causes restrictions on these species, and apparently there should be. Maybe the restrictions should be on the people who keep them????

Retic chic- I find that it is the people who overreact to reptile bites that cause more restrictions, not the people who get bit....
How big of a rock???

I still hand feed my boa, too small to do any real harm anyway. I'm sure she will get lucky and hit me sooner or later.

Brandon, my apologies for jumping on your joke. I remain opposed to glamorizing bites from any animal - reptilian or not.
Accidents happen and people make mistakes. It is infuriating to me that all snakes of the family boidae are restricted in Saskatchewan due to the numbers of people bitten by boas and pythons. A study in 1985 showed that males between 18 and 25 were treated in emergency rooms for bites from boas and pythons, most often after 9pm, and after or while the people were consuming alcohol.
It was this that caused the restriction of ALL boids, including sand boas and ball pythons. They are not available in pet stores, and people moving here with the family pet find out it is restricted and have to surrender it. I find it sad that good people are deprived of keeping their pet due to the actions of a few irresponsible people, but that is the way the laws are, and they are not going to change them for the better - in fact now they are looking at restricting birds and some species of tropical fish. NUTS!!!
There are no exceptions to the rules, no temporary shelter permit, no educational permit, just complete restrictions to all but licensed, inspected commercial zoo facilities open to the public. The average person is not in a position for this type of committment. I find this ridiculous, but the reasons for the restrictions are legitimate.
The giant pythons command respect at all times, and the time to realize that they have the power and potential to kill you is not while they are in the process of doing so.

Well said ScalesZoo. Any bite, boid or not, isn't "cool".

i found it cool and interesting, although i dont ever wanna get hit by one. If it does, i'd be sure to have my cam ready and share it later on!

There is a seperate forum for jokes:D
I have to agree with Retic chic too. I've been guilty of going off and showing "Hey! I got my first bite today! Wee!". But one must realised that there are repercussions to everything we do. Alot of us may take this lightly, but all it takes is one stupid anti-reptilian pain-in-the-a** activist to come onto this PUBLIC forum and see evidences of why herps should be banned. I'm not saying, go underground with showing your bites to educate others from not doing so, but just to use a lil discretion. Maybe include more info on what YOUR mistake was and how you could prevent it. Just my 2 cents. :)

Your right but some of you people think as if i have been the only person to ever post a pic of a snake bite here before. And further more not once did i ever say that it was cool. I just thought i would share what a bite looks like from a little rock. I was just being "Sarcastic" with saying on my post that
(don't you love when this happens) And with that i did not feel it should of been in the "Joke fourm" like (Retic chic) replyed above.
Picture or no picture there will alway's be someone that will try to get reptiles banned. And i feel that it is more of the people that bring there herps out to the public places were some one might
not be comfortable being near.
Or have everyone that get's a bite from a reptile that does not need treatment. Run to the Hospital to have them check it out.
And what about the pictures people post of
"MAN EATING SNAKES"
But by posting and sharing picture's of reptile incounters on a REPTILE site i did not think that it would of been a problem.
I also feel that more people that would like to ban reptiles would be more "PISSED" by seeing all the feeding pic's of snake and Lizards eating Mice, Rats, Rabbits, Birds, exc. Then to see a picture of a snake bite on someone else.
Just my 2 cents
Brandon
