View Full Version : Possibly constipated????
Hello,
I am just wondering If i could get some advice...
As I was taking out my blood (about 18 inches) I noticed many lumps inside his body .. 4 that I can see that are about 3/4's of an inch long... I managed to get two out .. It was hardened up Fecees well actually urate .. It really was as hard as a rock. He still has a few in there far up that I can not manage to get out ..
Is he constipated .. Is this dangerous? Should i take him to the vet asap ..
I hear of using oils (if so how) or hot water bath but I don't really know what he has so I though I' ask b4 jumping to conclusions..
Thanks a lot guys

the bath water should be about skin temperature maybe up to 80 degrees F (thats warm for a snake) 2-3 inches in a tupperware. whether it will work or not with this problem, I have no clue
I got him to take a warm bath and got the two last ones out wich were feces... and they were perfectly hydrated and and normal looking ..
I believe the problem is my water bowl .. its is fairly high form the groung and i coud see him struggling to dring do hence he could of been dehydrated .. humidity is around 70 - 80 depending when i mist it down..
Anyone know how this could of been cause .. andy help would be apreciated

Constipated???....nahhhhh.....
a blood python???....yeaaaaaahh...
Its normal dude.....
although i would reccommend having a water bowl that is accessible.....
next time, dont help ur snake "get it out" it will be fine.....
sometimes, especially on smaller snakes u can do more harm, then good trying to get it out urself...
it probably would have done it itself if u left it alone....
I changed the bowl .. so then what do u think it was Grant? The urate wa hard as a rock..
Thanks for te reply.
(I was gentle when helping him.)

Coreys right.....
all of my blood pythons release very hard urates....i thoght that that was normal for all snakes???...
infact i even had a urate so hard and so big that it clogged my toilet!...Remember that Corey!
Unfortunately for Corey....he had to hold his wee wee all the way home...lol
back on topic....when i first recieved my first pair of bloods, they didn't defecate for months...and since then they, and all the new additions have been crapping like clockwork....
i too, no longer keep records of defecation....if there is a problem, i will monitor it closely, but as long as they're eating and defecating regularly then i dont worry about it...
Wheres some pics man!!!! (of the snake that is....)
Thanks guys .. I really apreciate that ..
U reassured me. I don't have pics .. no digital camera anymore .. i wsh i could post some but I can't!
Tx for the help Corey and Grant
