Got a question....I've been keeping my breeding mice outside - because of the smell - and am wondering if anyone knows how cold is too cold for them.

I have 2 small tanks with 6-7 mice in each one and have had litters practically every day or two for the past 2 weeks. It's getting pretty cold overnight now and will hit the freezing point at any time. I had planned to put them all down when it got too cold. How much longer can I wait??

Thanks.

If they are in your shed.. I'd keep them alive and let them keep going. Shouldnt be to bad...

I'd move them in asap if it were up to me. Pinkies cannot survive cold temperatures well, and production will go down too.

But the adult mice can survive right?
Im also thinking about breeding my own mice. Does anyone know any good caresheets or anything?

Yeah, as Linds said, it's to bring them in... cold mice aren't "happy" mice and you might want a few litters over the winter, right? Even if the adults can survive outdoors, the litters won't...

Since the weather has turned cold in the past few weeks. My pinkie production is way up. My mice are all spitting out pinkies at an amazing rate since the temps have been droping down to 2-6 degrees over night. Ordinarily I would research this my self but I have only access to a pc for short periods as I am completing a relocation to New Brunswick. Thanks for your help. All the same though, Are mice ok if they are sheltered under plywood in glass aquariums with lots of pine shavings near freezing or just below freezing temps?

i used to do this with rats and mice year rd on my balcony i used a piece of ply wood with holes drilled in for a lid
the tanks were always warm do to the humidity being high from the rats and mice
im not sure for production rates if they went up or down but it worked for me its just a pain going out there when its freezing to clean them
