Good question Crestie. I know Ray has some strong antibodies against cobras but not sure if that includes O. hannah. Sweet snake Ray.

Great pics. :) Kings are such magnificent snakes, it'll be a long while before I dare work with cobras tho.

I do use king cobra venom in my self immunization shots, BUT one this size has a large venom yeild, so I doubt I would survive without 74 galons of antivenom.
Scott, in which picture do you see a hook in my hand???? there is of course one within reach, but not in my hand. Borrow my glasses?? :)

I doubt I would survive without 74 galons of antivenom
Ahhh... the mystery of what's in the barrels in the first pic is revealed! :)
That's one impressive cobra, Ray!

Those barrels have a dual purpose :) (I'll explain soon)

Actually...........Where's Scott..... I remember seeing him behind me Ray?????........
how long do you inject that venom mixture into yourself ???
when did you started this??

AHH yes, The dual purpose of those Barrels explained. A close examination of the first picture reveals SOMEONE hiding behind the barrels untill the King cobra was caught and secured.
Amazing snake Ray! Now that's a REAL king! Wow!

Skin78, I started in 1991, and give myself booster shots every 21 days (if I don't have any bites in that period, or if I remember)

He's one of the few people that when it comes to venomous that I respect.....for those of you that don't know me I've been in the business for over 25 years conservatively..... I've handled, packed etc....over 3,000 venomous snakes. This is not to make me look like i'm somebody.... it's just to put in perspective my compliments to Ray H. Not to down play any danger's in the pics..(I was there) But, Ray H. sure did not need me to "keep a watchful eye"! He had everything under control. (I was just a back-up) I have no fear of any venomous/dangerous reptiles etc. BUT....... I have a healthy respect for what they can do. I've lost 4 VERY close friends in the last 15 years over bites. When it comes to Ray H. you can see the love and respect in his eyes. I still give him crap over the number of bites but, don't get me wrong..... I see the right reasons and respect... This is a "true" 14-15' King! I've seen at least 50 "king's" over the years and this one ranks in the top 5!!!!! Just an absolutely incredible animal!!!! Ray G. HBR

Thanks Ray. I sometime do some silly things, but I sure felt more at ease with you there. Thanks again.
But Ray don't you feel something when you inject yourself??Or do you get sick when you don't inject yourself.

Hmmm Was the man behind the barrells perhaps a fearless paratrooper in Vietnam and is that a stirring spoon in his hand.
Now Ray in one pic i see something with a black handle and red shaft looks like a STUMP RIPPER HOOK to me. Yes I suppose its cheating i know you have it .Actually I was supprised to not see a toilet scrubber in your hand.
Ray Goushaw and Ray Hunter are both good friends of mine and I appreciate their wealth of knowledge and laughs they give me .Ray Goushaw gave me some tips on how to get my tegu's to breed and now its embarassing to walk in to show a guest the animals and have them doing the wild thing. Thanks again Ray.
As to Ray Hunter and his skills He is one of 2 men alive I would trust or work with an animal like that. I have said it to him many times " When you work with deadly animals Your life and your helpers life are in your hands and you have to trust the person your working with 100%."
Side note 2 of the three are on this post third is my wife .I must add Hunter trainned my wife as i think a husband is probably the wourst trainner for his wife something about being over protective.
I can attest to Ray Hunters ability. I have personally seen him breakup a fight between two large King Cobras(remember that Ray).
He is one of the two best snake handlers that I have seen. Albert Killian being the other.

Who could for get that wonderful experience? How is the Rattler doing?
Ray Hunter
Alright Ray...I'm curious. How do you control a 14 foot elapid? I'm no hot keeper myself, but everything I've seen on TV, and on the net shows tailing or hook and tailing, to keep out of strike range. What part of the cobra do you manipulate, and with what to keep your limbs out of range?
By the way, that is one stunning snake. I'd pay money to see it live (through glass of course).

"Alright Ray...I'm curious. How do you control a 14 foot elapid?"
Good Question...the answer is...VERY CAREFULLY :)
"What part of the cobra do you manipulate, and with what to keep your limbs out of range?"
I am holding the tip of the tail to prevent the snake from charging the photographer. and I just move whatever limb it strikes at out of the way...I guess.

Flip flop + scrub brush + asp = control. Ray has a way with cobras but i think he likes playing ring around the hot room with mambas. I think his years of experiance plays a lot in how to control them along with alot of calm and patients.
Ray,
The rattler is getting acclimated. Thanks.
I read that in the Guniess book of world records the record for most amount of cobras kissed is 11. Lets go for 12. LOL.

That would be easy, but I don't care to be the one to do it. Dave Weather would be a great canadate for that.
He would be the perfect canadate. I will mention it to him. Then we would have to round up 12 King Cobras!
Jay72
Kissing cobras? Aren't you worried about salmonella? lol
