The weather has been great for the snake counts, we had nearly 100 on Saturday. Yesterday was 24 degrees in the afternoon, a little hot for hill climbing, but perfect for herping.http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/3311MVC-153S-med.jpg http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/3311MVC-141S-med.jpg http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/3311MVC-140S-med.jpg

Jordan, you are going to have to run away from home! You would not beleive the weather, or the number of snakes we see lately. And no road kills for the past 3 weeks either. OK, I'll shut up now.

Hehe Jordan. We just came back from finding 3 wandering garters ( one is the biggest one I've ever seen!) and 5 bulls (only two were able to be photographed). The usual rattlers with twice as many babies as to adults. And the best part is, I think I saw a patternless one! I wouldn't say totally patternless, but it was so faded that you had to look close to see a pattern. Couldn't manage a picture as it ran down as soon as I tried to get closer to hook it.

Pics will be up hopefully tomorrow as we're going out for night fishing now. Oooh! Does the fun ever end?! lol!

Suddenly my miss spelling of the word solopufuligendon, doesn't seem so bad any more.

Gotta love the way those snakes run down their holes, or sprint to a bush, jog to the river, and sometimes hop over logs.

Hey Jordan, if you are planning on coming for the spring count, you will see plenty! The only reason we are finding them in increasing numbers now, is its getting cold, and they are there for winter now. You hit the beginning of the migration, and we are nearing the tail end of it now.
You can console yourself with the fact that us and Vanan will be up to our eyebrows in snow in a couple months! Be sure to watch the weather channel and email us pics of yourself in shorts every time we hit -40 degrees. YES, that happens out here, sometimes for weeks on end.
