View Full Version : Introducing a leo
I have a female, not an adult yet but 6 1/2". I recently acquired a baby. I know that I should wait 'till the baby is at least 3/4 the size of the other. I just wanted to know if there is anything else to keep in mind. My only concern is that the established leo will have troubles. She has been housed alone since I got her. Actually either of them, since the baby is in quarentine and alone as well. Will they be really stressed when I do introduce them? Any tips would be appreciated.

Once they're closer in size and you're ready to introduce them, try rearranging the cage furniture before you put them in together. That will often help smoothe things out. Also make sure that there are plenty of hides in there... after that, just keep an eye on them to make sure that there isn't any squabbling going on, and that both of them are getting their fair share of food...
Hope that helps a bit :)

leos will naturally be stressed when their physical enviornment changes (when you move your baby into the other cage) as for social changes i would guess so but i'm not sure
What should I do if they do fight?

well i doubt the problem will arise, but i guess occassionally people come across an agressive female, but also keep in mind that the "fighting" may actually be mating, but if you're positive this is not the case, then you'll just have to seperate them again
if they do fight i would separate them. better safe than tail-less
