How do you heat your leo's?

I was just wondering what method do people use to heat their leo's tanks, Do you use a heatpad & a lamp or just a lamp or just a heatpad? I am trying different things to find what keeps the temp I want I have a 60watt blue bulb but it makes the the enclosure to hot about a hundred degrees on the thermometer that is about 1" above the floor. so I moniter the temps closely, I usually keep my leo's between 84-87 degrees. What is the best temp for them?

84-87 is a lil low. they can go up to around 92 and drop temp at night. i use red, blue, and black bulbs. heating pads are ideal cause of the belly heat but they're about 5x more expensive than just getting a bulb and lamp. for your bulb if it's getting too hot u can find some way to move it away from the ground.

I use an undertank heat pad and a heat bulb. Each cage has the uth on 24/7, and a 40 watt heat bulb on during the day only. I feel the belly heat is very important to leo's. During the hottest summer months, I just use the uth's.

I use a heat lamp, with a hot spot around 90-95F

I create a hot spot in one end of the terrarium by using two heat pads. One on the floor and one vertical. The heat pad that is vertical is inside the cage and the one that is on the floor, outside the cage. On the summer i use only the one that is on the floor.

I use heat lamps only... They have a 2 basking spots at 95 then the warm sides are around 85-90, their cool side is around 75-80.

I generally use heat lamps only but I make sure to position them over rock or ceramic tile so that it absorbs the heat and creates a nice basking spot for belly heat.

i use a heat lamp for all my animals just because, imo, its more natural for them because in the wild they get heat from the sun. You can also make basking spots, even though they dont bask very often, it still gives them the choice to. Plus if you use a heat lamp you give them light aswell and you can use it as a light source and a heat source.

try to stay away from heatrocks though cause they can burn your leo's skin

I use many different methods. Ambient room temps around 88 with the moist hides approximately 5-8 degrees cooler. Heat rocks in plastic tubs with sand. That way they cannot hurt themselves:D Basking lamps, usually 75 watt reds over natural rocks for the belly heat. And heat caves. They don't heat up as much as the hot rocks do, provide good hiding areas and look nice. I adjust these methods for each gecko or gecko pairs depending on who does best with what. So far I have noticed that ambient room temps with cooler moist hides is the best. It's also very natural. Very close to what it would be like in the wild, especially since they are nocturnal.:D
