I was just wonder if anyone else has purchased leo's and have had some not make it. How many since you have started the hobby have died on you or have been sick or had crypto? Is this common?

I have not had any problems. Every leo I have bought has been healthy. However, when I was breeding I did have a couple of babies not make it. One was fully formed in the egg, but died. Another was born with deformities and had to be euthanized.

well I had one gorgeous tangerine albino male that died due to impaction, but I have been careful with my purchases and usually ask others in the hobby about a givin breeder before purchasing and following the quarintine procedures. If you do that you should be fine and any leo should have the breeders garentee of health.

Are you using sand now? or did it get impacted before you bought it?

Most leos, as long as they're purchased from a reputable source (ie, not most pet stores) do very well, and live to a ripe old age with the proper care. Leos in general are very hardy animals... there's always going to be a few who won't make it when they're sick though.
