I've always liked all sorts of animals, and i was never ever afraid... well thats what i thought. Today at the trip to the reptile shop, a friend was holding on a turantuala and it jumped on me, and i kinda jumped and said AAAH! really loud haha. I think i'm afraid of spiders LOL. Didn't think they were scary lookin untill i held one today, it was my first time... ** shruggs **
don't think i'd ever own spiders... though i do think scorpians are cool!

I am DEFINATELY afraid of heights! I literally have to walk near the wall on the second floor at the mall.
It's SO bad!
As far as "animals" go...centipedes and millipedes really scare me.
I am not familiar with handling snakes...so I can't say that I'm afraid of them, because I would handle them...but I know I'd be nervous at first.
ohhh...and maggots! Maggots just freak me out in every way possible!!!

anything with too many legs gives me the chills
I am dreadfully afriad of the dark. I will not even go outside alone at night let alone sleep alone with all lights out. hehehe it's so dorky, but serious to me. :D

I actually have quite a few phobias. For animals:
1) Spiders. Terrified of them. Can't explain why.
2) Horses. I saw someone get kicked square in the face by a horse when I was young, and have been scared of them since.
Other misc. Phobias:
1) Teletubbies. They are serial killers, I swear!!! And what the **** is with that baby in the sky???? AAAAAHHHHH!!!! SAY NO TO CRACK! YOU END UP INVENTING SHOWS LIKE THIS!!!!
:D
2) Heights. I plan to go skydiving to cure this one.
3) Suffocation. Of all the ways to die, this is the one I fear the most. Which brings me to another animal one:
4) Bees and Wasps. It's not the insects that scare me. It's death by asphyxiation that scares me. See above. (btw, I have an anaphylactic allergy to insects.)
5) Deep water. I plan to go shark diving to cure this one. But this probably has more to do with #3 above as well. :)
I think I'll end it there before people start to think I'm just a big p**sy. :D

Spiders... I definitely do not like spiders. Insects in general really... lol. Especially ones with many legs....
I'm not too bad with heights, but I don't like ladders... go figure. Somewhat afraid of the dark, but I'm ok as long as I can see even a little bit. Pitch blackness I don't like though....

Oh, I forgot to mention sharks. I am SO afraid of sharks. I can't even go near the ocean because I am so afraid of them..and I live in Florida, about 10 minutes away from the beach. It's horrible. I went to the beach one time when I was a kid and someone near me yelled "Shark!!!" and I will never forget how scared I was. :( :(
Some of my fears include:
- seaweed (you never know, there could be a finger or something caught in it  )
- spiders (completely irrational, I would love to have a trapdoor spider or a mexican redknee but I'm afraid my fear would interfere with its proper care)
- fire
- afraid of heights in that I always feel like I'm gonna throw myself over the edge if I stand to close and get that funny feeling and weak in the knees, but love being high up
- water (oceans and lakes are the worse, even swimming pools give me the willies sometimes... first movie I ever remember seeing was Jaws... I was two years old... can you blame me?)
- stick bugs (too many times was I startled as a kid thinking they are actually sticks)
- like Marisa, if I have to sleep by myself I cannot do it in complete darkness... I can't see the boogie man if its pitch black and nobody is there to protect me! )
- cyclists (drunken or not) on roads when I'm driving (a recently aquired fear)

ohhhyeah...I'm afraid of deep water too. Especially if it's NOT a swimming pool, and you can't see the bottom.
and another one...Death. I'm definately afraid of death...mine, or anyone else's.
geeee...how morbid am I....?

one night I sitting on the couch in the living room...
all of a sudden, my daughter started screaming, and CRYING...she was pointing her finger at the couch, trying to talk....but couldn't. She just kept jumping around, and crying hysterically...pointing.
I thought Freddie Krueger was coming out from under my couch! I jumped up and turned around to see what it was that was scaring her so bad.
It was a spider. a spider no bigger than one of these smilies :) .
Honestly, I don't even know how she saw the stupid thing!
Anyway...I have never seen anyone as afraid of spiders as her. She bursts into tears every time she sees one...even daddy long legs!

LOL daddy long legs are the scariest ones!!!!!!!!! Hahaha I could've probably taken the cake for the worst fright several years ago... I used to go in to a complete shock..... couldn't move, speak, do anything I was so scared....completely paralyzed with fear......then I progressed to the freaking out part.... I couldn't even look at pictures or be in the same room as a tarantula....now I'm proud to say I've gotten myself to the point where I can feed and water a tarantula (no guarantee I won't panic and jump back if it moves) and pick up those white spiders or jumping spiders.....in fact I had a whole colony of those white spiders keeping me company in my car for the past two years :D

i find them interesting from a distance and with a poking stick.

I can Only sleep When its PITCH Black (My room doesnt have any windows just the way I like it)
Fire well thats just fun :)
spiders I have a mild fear of them although While sleeping I probley have inhaled a few lol
going High on wobbley ladders I was up about 20 some odd feet and it tipped over the only thing that stopped me from getting broken bones was me grabbing on to a tree branch and climbing down
I'm not afraid of fire in itself...I'm afraid of fire in the sense of being burned to death, or losing loved ones, or my home to it. Forest fires also tie in to that. Not scared of controlled fire though... I used to play with fire a lot as I was growing up.....hehehe o> :firestart

LOL... makes me think of when I was a kid. Think I was around 5. The one and only time I was scared by a goat. I was scared of both the situation and the animal. I was at a zoo and they had goats and chickens loose all over the place. This one little goat was running after me....had this big red pussy growth on the side of its neck that was the size of its head....freaked me out and I ran as fast as I could......straight in to a big tree! :p :o
I used to be afraid of flying, but a nice long trip to Brazil cured that one. Rappelling too, that gets to me - done it twice, I keep thinking the rope is going to break. That's about it.... I'm OK with spiders, fire, death, deep water and so on. Almost forgot Oprah. She scares the hell out of me. That's it though...

I'm not afraid of much. I almost drowned when I was a kid but I'm not especially afraid of water . I was wondering how may respondants are afraid of death. Myself I am not afraid of it. I was just wondering.
Spiders can startle me but I dont' have any problem with them . Actually they ought to be afraid of me since if they crawl on me they are doomed :)

I don't have too many fears but my HUGEST fear is driving in the snow. I seriously lose it. a few years back my i lost control of my car in the snow and went down a 10 foot embankment, luckly i wasn't hurt but scare sh!tless. I had to climb out of that thing also, which was very hard to do when your shaking like mad. Ever since then i cry the whole way to were i'm going with my hands stiff on the wheel and my eyes peeled on the road. Doing 5mph. LOL
As far as animals go i would have to say the only animal that scares me are emu's those scary things. Had one sneak up behind me and snatch a cone out of my hand and bite me. OUCH!!!!!
Leeches..don't know why....hate them....It doesn't stop me from swimming in waters that have leeches but when I get them on me .aaauugghh...I check my whole body with a fine-toothed comb...between legs and all...lol...hate em....
I like/love/eat/drive anything else...not really afraid of anything, that is not a good thing,...did I mention Leeches...hate em

Large mammals can be intimidating, horses and cattle, stuff like that could back into you and kill you by accident. Anyone ever been to the deer park at MarineLand or anywhere else? My daughter was traumatized at the age of 3 by the young deer they had there. We gave her the ice cream cone full of feed that you can buy at the park, the deer swarmed, she spilled the food all over herself and scaled up her aunt's clothing and clung as the deer nibbled at the food she was now wearing. She was terrified and we couldn't get her near anything with fur or legs for about a year after that. Now she has a cat but at first we had to explain why we couldn't keep him in an aquarium like the snakes. The idea of animals running loose in the house was crazy to her.

Spiders.
Yup.
I am 26 years old and deathly, mortally fearful of spiders. It's the kind of paralyzing fear, the kind when you see one and suddenly you can't move, or it's too close and you're scrambling back and over things. Now, I think I'm fairly reasonable about it, the teeny ones don't bother me nearly as much. It has to be bigger than a quarter or so.
Someone posted extreme closeups of a black widow to another forum I read a while back. I stumbled on them by accident and just about had a heart attack. The fiancee (now wife, actually) of a good friend of mine's parents' house was just infested with fiddlebacks (brown recluse, I believe) last year, and they wouldn't do anything about it. We're talking just randomly crawling past on the wall. I freaked. Majorly.
Tarantulas bother me a *little* less. I think the fuzziness helps a bit. My brain goes 'oh, it's fuzzy, it must be ok' when the rest of me is going 'eeeeeeeeeek!' I still don't think I'd be able to have one. The presence of it in my home/possibility of it escaping would have me in a constant panic attack.
You should have seen me the day I figured out tarantulas are indigenous to Oklahoma. Heh.

I'm afraid of:
Suffocation (I don't like my throat being touched at all, I can barely wear a choker for a few seconds without gagging, and I can't wear turtlenecks)
Deep Water (I won't swim in a lake...I have an issue swimming in an area where I cannot see the bottom, partially due to a fear of drowning, and wondering what's lurking in the depths.)
Heights (I was recently able to finally get onto a step ladder, my fear is severe)
Small Spaces (Claustrophobia)
Spiders (not tarantulas)
The Dark (yeah I know, I'm a big sissy)
The End Of The World (Nuclear War, Meteors, etc.)
Elevators (I think I saw Speed too much *L* Most likely to do with my fear of heights)
Clowns (hence the reason why "It" REALLY creeped me out. When I was 4, I was at McDonald's and Ronald McDonald came up to me asking my name, I just bawled and hid behind my mother.)
Knives/Swords (I'm comfortable around them so as long no one is holding them, even if a trusted person is holding one, I cringe or sometimes even run out of the room. I wouldn't mind collecting them when I have more dough. :) )
Death (And on the other hand, I'm fascinated with fire and guns. *shrug* :D )
Isolation (no family, no friends, nothing)
I used to be INCREDIBLY afraid of needles...I cured that phobia by getting my first tattoo. :)

I'm scared of big parots!
I love horses and sharks and like spiders :D
I'm afraid of death in a manner in which I can't breathe (ie drowning, being strangles, smothered, etc). And I don't like seeing people high up. If it's me, I'm fine, but if someone in a movie is standing on a ledge, I don't like it.
And I used to be afraid of fire because when I was young the building next to our's burnt down.
I think that's it. I don't like maggots, but I'm not afraid of them.
oh. I'm afraid of anything that burrows into your skin. ewww.
Zoe
Public speaking, spiders, and rubber. Yes, rubber! I have an anaphylactic allergy to natural rubber latex and the sight of balloons, rubber bands, etc. can send me into a panic and also the hospital.
I'm a GI, Fear is for girly men.
Ok, seriously though. I'm afraid of heights but the weird thing is I am airborne/air assualt and teach rock climbing and rappelling in my spare time. I can climb and jump but standing on an edge or on top of a 20' ladder gives me the serious shakes.
Other than that - I can't think of anything.
anything with 6 legs or more. Don't know why. It's dangerous if i see one when I'm driving.

I'm afraid of any insect with long legs....i can't stand looking at them and they creep me out. I'm also afraid of the dark...yeah yeah i know what your going to say:P it's not the dark that scares me it's what i can't see...yes it's strange. I also don't like going in water, i'm always afraid i will drown or something which is why i haven't learned how to swim yet :P
I am terrifed of Spiders...I can look but if one touches me, watch out!
Basements really freak me out, which sucks cause my b/f lives in one, I cannot breathe proper when entering or leaving one and heaven help me if its darkL)
Needles are a big one to, which I cannot even understand b/c I have gotten piercings and tatoo's! Go figure, I think it's the injection one's that do it!
Wasps.....no need to explane I think
and seaweed in the lakes and oceans, I always think it will tangle itself around my ankle or leg and I will get pulled under.....*shudder*

spders
1. I am afraid of heights, I always feel like I'm for sure going to fall.
2. Driving anything motorized, a car, snow mobile, jetski, anything.
3. Swimming in the ocean at night.
4. My basement when it's dark. If I ever had to do something at night in the basement alone when I was a little girl, I would run as fast as I could! I can still feel the fear now, but, force myself to walk.
5. Spiders a little and maggots for sure!
6. Suffocation, I hate anything close to my face.

Okay you wanna know what I am truely scared of? Demons...
I can't say anything animal wise, because I will end up encountering it anyway when I go traveling around the world in my little "snake girl truck"... lol yeah, I'm a loser, but people have dreams! That is all
i don't like standing on balconies....i can feel gravity pulling me down.
centipedes give me the willies......
and I'm clausterphobic.....very small spaces give me anxiety attacks!
ooh....mucky sand in the water....if i sink in even an inch i panic, i sort of fixed that by wearing water socks.....they make me feel safe!:D
I am afraid of two things that I can't really control:
-seaweed... donno why
-death by drowning
but I still swim in open sea....

im surprised to see a few other people scared of horses!!!
i havent had any bad experiences with them, but one pushed me off a wall once! lol
first it started with me thinking they were disgusting, i hate the way they have those horrid sticky out veins on theyre legs!! and smelly nasty noses...... :: shudder :: now they scare the crap outta me!! we were at this neato chicken farm the other week, buying little pet chickens, and there was a horse in a shed which i didnt see, i was happily walking along the path and it stuck its horrible head out of the window and did that horrible horsey snort at me!! i couldnt stop shaking!! ew...
im not scared of heights, you could sit me on top of a 1000ft pole and i would be fine! but i hate it when people (or me) stand near the edge of cliffs!! it feels like the ground is just crumbling away EEP!
im sort of clausterophobic, i hate it when spaces are so small you can feel you own breath?? against your face?...
ohh! and when those looneys got "pot holing"?? in those tiny caves?? and the ones filled with water? i nearly puked last time i watched a show like that! so god damn scary!!
long post.... ill shuttup now....
DUCKS....
I was at Disney World when i was 17 and i had a hot dog and there as a duck there. I broke off a piece of the bun and gave him some. Then he wanted more. I didn't have any....The damn thing bit me. You can't trust ducks....
oh yeah...and house parties...so may people....and i just clam up and gointo a little shell....I try not to go to them but sometime its unavoidable

The one thing that totally freaks the hell out of me is this little green action figure that was my older brothers. I don't think we still have it, but who knows? If I see that thing I just totally freak. I scream and cry and run to my room and shake..... Its just so unexplainable. I don't even know why i'm scared of it. My mom used to hide it at the back of the art cupboard so I wouldn't go digging through there. One time I was looking through it, and I looked into one of the dark corners and saw it, and I snapped back so fast I made a dent in the wall with my elbow. My god..... some fears are just so wierd.
Also that evil rabbit dude from 'Donnie Darko' gives me the creeps, too. ~TR~

Was afraid of many things and situations in the past but getting knowing them, the knowledge it self, set free instantly all those fears.
The key to any fear is knowledge.
Last fear that i haven't control is one slight fear with sharks.
And that's because i ddidn't face one in deep sea.
I know what to do and how to control my stress but i haven't met with a shark yet.
Other fears are:
-bad reptiles (those that are erect standing on two feet) :D
-major fear of malady. I am not afraid of death but i can't imagine myself in a hospital's bed more than a week.

Im deathly scared of losing my daughter.
cockroaches..well maybe not scared, just grossed out
falling, I used to confuse this one with heights
turtles, now I know that sounds crazy but when I was a kid and we used to go swimming at the lake near by, my sisters friend teased me that turtles will come up from under me and bite my toes off. Im only scared of them while swimming by the way and now I wont dare go in a lake any ways.
Germs they creep me out!
Crowds, I get panic attacks if a room is too crowded with people, I never used to have that problem until I went to prison by the way.
-Swimmin' in deep lakes...
-I hate when people start freakin' near me, that ussually gets me freaked... dependin' on situation...
Not sure what else...
I used to be dead scraed of ET. When I was young I was mad scared of that thing... but I kpet wtchin' the movie over and over... pretty crazy **** if you ask me :p

deep water that I can't see the bottom of, complete darkness, any insect with to many legs, like linds I would like to own a tarantuala but am afraid that my fear will get in the way of it's proper feeding and care, being restrained while I'm laying down, if i can't move I will completely flip out, cars absolutely terrify me but I can ride in one; I refuse to drive and never learned how!, things I can't see, like the little spooks that seem to "haunt" my house, and if I feel like I'm being watched and no one is there, I get terrified so bad I can barely breath.......which isn't good since I know my house is haunted, mirrors in the dark, if I feel like people are staring at me.
My partner is afraid of....................
the movie "The Exorcist" she came bolting in here creeped out!, clowns, suffocations by sleeping bags (when she was about 5 she fell asleep in a large sleeping bag, got turned around, ended up laying on the opening, woke up and couldn't find her way out because she was laying on the opening), getting caugt in a car thats on fire, being pushed into deep water, having her wrists touched becasue her cousin would run after her with scissiors and threaten to cut her veins out when she was little (nice huh?),alot of blood and dark basements, looking in the mirror and seeing shadows (or other things), and seeing shadows where there is nothing to make the shadow, clausterphobic.

Fear in order of Holy S**t factor 1 to 10, 10 being worst.
10: basements, dark ones. There could be a monster under the stairs
9: windows at night. I live in the forest and someone could be standing out side the window and I can't see them. Really bad idea to have windows in the bathroom.
8: spiders. un-natural to have than many legs. and they bite.
7: bugs
6: SCBA equipment. putting that mask on my face is tough.
5: heights. And yet, I'm a firefighter. See above for a reason not to have a fire in my town!
Those are probably the ones that affect my life the most, although I have issues with deep water, dark water, sea water.... anythig not in a pool. Or even a pool if I am not wearing goggles. Funny that I used to swim competivily(sp)
Oh, and guns. Any kind, rifle, hand gun ,missle. Watch Bowling for Colombine the other day with hubby and cried at the end. They make me twitch. This could explain why I don't travel much. Worried about others around me carrying guns. Not much of a concern on little old Vancouver Island
