I have a c.b. pair of c. d. terrificus which are (best guess) two years old. The male has a very classic crotalus head triangular though a little narrow as durrisus spp. tend to be. My female though has a VERY narrow head and where the venom glands are seems almost caved in as though they were about a tenth the size they shoud be. I was wondering if this is possibly a genetic abnormality or is possibly locality specific as some terrificus are significantly more toxic and therefore would require less venom to kill their prey. Any insight would be welcome.
p.s. no the venom glands have not been removed and it is not venomoid (although to be fair thats what it looks like). I tested that theory with a live small rat and it was dead within minutes of envenomation.
