I read that this was in fact the man lying as the snake had been dead for some time. A case of trying to sue WalMart for something they had nothing to do with.

I find it ironic that a man shopping in a store that has done so much to diminish wages and benefits in the retail sector is asking them to pay a medical bill. LOL! What's the matter man, no health benefits of your own?? hahaha The guy's probably a liar but I say make them pay anyway, screw Devil-Mart!

Sounds like a hoax to me - stomp a rattler in the parking lot or at home, take it in to sue Wallyworld. Besides, if he'd been bitten, wouldn't a test show some signs of rattler venom?

Raven,
I guess it depends on whether or not you are trying to support a family. That $10/hour may be great if you live with your parents or share an apartment but it's no good to someone who has a family and needs a house and car and the many other things needed to have a family. Not everyone at that stage of their life has had an opportunity to necessarily get a degree and a good job in their chosen field. Wal-Mart has busted unions, preyed on the very young, very old and most disgustingly, the disabled to staff their stores and fought to lower or eliminate minimum wage statutes. That is the criticism of this multi-billion dollar corporation. Their greed knows no bounds. This is not a business that brings prosperity and valuable employment; it is a parasite.

tru ..i see what u mean.. im only part time, and i know the full time people make more than me..and i also think that the Sam's Club is a bit better wages and stuff then actual walmart, and we close at 8:30 so no late shifts (and i dont know if its different or the same in the states as the new canadian stores)...i dont really know much about walmart, im just somewhat employed by them :p (just got the job like 3 weeks ago)
not arguing with anyone here :)

While mousekilla comments of WalMart doing serious damage to the financail status of low income families employeed by them wage wise is founded it is also of note to notice that Wal Mart offers a HUGE selection of qaulity products to the low income family at the cheapest retail rates anywhere. I know as a parent in a family of six that I shop at Wal Mart all the time for great deals on every day neccessities and it has saved me tons of money. So while their workers do suffer bad wages and benefits, their customers save huge money by shopping there. A good and a bad. Out of curiousity how does wal marts pay package compare to other retail giants such as Zellers or Sears?

Basicly if you work retail you get crap pay. end of story. Heck of alot better then McDonalds though....

Sunrunner,

The compensation levels at the smaller competitors MUST follow the lead of the biggest one. If Wal-Mart pays $8/hr, for example, then how can the smaller chains possibly afford to pay more? The leader will set the trend and in this case they drag down compensation levels across the entire retail sector. The strange thing is that of many of the employees at the smaller retailers in Canada are unionized and while their wages aren't that much better they generally have things like health benefits and provisions limiting the use of part-time staff which creates much more valuable full-time employment. Wal-Mart has busted unions all over North America, shutting down very profitable stores that have been successfully unionized by the democratic choice of their employees. On top of that they have lobbied the governments, sometimes successfully, to pass legislation that effectively outlaws unions and also to lower, freeze or eliminate minimum wages. Their greed is boundless. They have also won awards for being "Sweatshop Retailer of the Year" for purchasing the most products made in parts of the world that have no protections for workers. Sure this lowers the price of the products but at what cost? The cost is the freedom and safety of people in poor countries and the employment of people here. If you find yourself in an economic situation that requires your household to work long hours at 2 or more full time jobs just so you can afford to feed your family then is in not logical to question how it got to be this way? You won't get out of that situation by funding the very source of your misery.

Lisa,

Don't get me started on McDick's! LOL!

That is called Capitalism.

Do you even know anyone that works at Walmart?? We do not care how it is done in Canada!!!!!!!!! My wife works part time at walmart (Saturday and Sunday nights). After 90 days she is eligible for health care benefits and stock options. That sounds pretty good for a part time job. I work full time and since I am on a salary I do not get paid to work over 40 hours. I put in 60 hours a week and get paid for 40.

Stop talking out of your rear end.

well all you need to do is stop working 60 hours a week and start working what you are paid for tell your boss if he want's you for the extra 10 hours to pay you. You are human and have rights you dont work for free. That is 10 hpurs you could be geting payed for at a part time job so if he wants you to pay you what you are worth.

And dont let all the nice deals tric you and your wife I worked at wall mart part time and you see they play you like a flute they give you all the chances and opertunaties in the world. But you need to wait 3 monts well 3 monts is a season and they just lay you off and on your dismisel papers the reson is stated you were just a seasonal worker and no longer needed.

There for you busted your balls for 3 monts hoping to get thows benafits to better your family life style and you get scrued royaly when that 3 month comes around.
and the reason they don't have unions is because if they fall behind in there lay off schedual and the 3 monts passes well then tey are forced to keep you till you royaly mess up and even then they no longer diside who they can or can not fire.

you made the choice to be on salary i for 1 know that salary can be a good thing but i also know that it sucks as in your case if your putting in 60 hours you should be sitting down and reevaluating your pay package or 2. you are getting paid for 60 hours a week and you think your only getting paid for 40 but the company thinks they are paying you for 60

take it as you will if your gonna complain about being on salary then its time to go back to hourly pay period.

I am not complaining about my job. I am just saying that Walmart is not a bad company. If Walmart and McDonalds do not pay enough then go get another job. I do not see where people get there info saying there are not jobs out there. The newspaper is full of ads trying to hire people to work.

My sister worked at Walmart for four years with the same benefits.
