View Full Version : Appetite
My crestie seems to have no appetite. She will eat if I hand feed her but not if i leave food out for her. In her cage she's got a plate of baby food, a couple meal worms in a bowl and a cricket or 2 roaming but she ignores them all. Does she need medicating for worms or is she just fussy?
Positive fecal first of course before any meds. Tried silkworms or waxworms? Maybe you've just spoiled her. :)

Check you temps, if they are too low it could throw things off. Also just try leaving one food item in the enclosure, such as crix.
Good Luck

Temps are 70-80f, tried just baby food, tried just crix. i'm going to try handfeeding the meal worms if i can find my extra long tweezers.

How long have you had your crestie? Try to keep the temp in the mid 70's. How big is your enclosure? How old is your crestie? Do you have lots of cage decor, if so the crix might be hiding. Try to keep the bottom of the enclosure free of any branches/leaves so the crix have less hiding spots.

I've had her about 3 months, and over the summer we've tried to keep the temps in line though it can be difficult cause we were in an appt and the people below us would put their heat up (in the summer of all times). She was 8 months old when I bought her so she's almost a year.
She's in a 40 Gallon tank with fake branches stuck to the wall, hide boxes and cypress mulch for a substrate. Crix will run right by her and she still just ignores them.

Hmm... I really dont know. Other then try smudging some babyfood on her nose. Maybe a trip to the vet is in order. Has she dropped any eggs yet?

if you can, i would get a fecal sample to the vet. it will tell if she has parasites, which can affect appetite. Good luck.
