Is this a decent price?

I've been looking and looking, but I'm not really sure where to get and how much is a decent price for a boa.

I went to boastore.com and found this one page

Is this a decent looking snake for the price??

I don't know but it seems like a hefty price for crosses. Puruvians pure are not really that much more expensive. I'd look around a little more if I where you. Have you decided on what you want locale wise?

I agree with Frankie, asking too much for a hybrid. They are nice looking, too bad they're not pure. I spit on hybrids. Patooie!!!

Those are good lookin snakes, but you should look around there is alot out there. If you dont find one that you catches your eye more, than price should not be an issue as this snake will be with you a long time so get one you like alot.

I paid $225 for my Hog Island Boa and I absolutely love him. What an awesome snake...he is very friendly (unless in feed mode, then he will strike at anything near him..lol) and has awesome color. Sometimes he will show an awesome blue tone and other very distinct pink. It depends on what your looking for..these are cool snakes because they do not get huge and are fairly easy to care for.

They are very pretty but a little pricy. In the past I have notice that Central Floriday Reptile Breeders have many nice BCI and BCC at reasonable prices.

I must be lucky! I bought my 2 boas, Honey Bun and Jake, privately and the guy only charged me $60 CDN for them and a travel cage. They are adults though, and he wanted them to go to a great home. I almost bought the albino green burmese he was selling. That is a beauty of a snake!

What exactly does 66% Het mean?

Thanks for everyones great replies, I'll be setting up my enclosure this weekend hopefully, then I'm going to monitor temps and humidity for a week or so before I buy a boa.

GeminiDragon, 66%het means it carries a gene for albino. If your interested you can go to www.newenglandreptile.com and look for the genetic section that explains more. Look in the care sheet section down at the bottom.

These are just a few, this is a frequently discussed topic, so if you punch it in the search engine you will find many threads. I agree with Jared, CFRB often produces some great looking animals. Unless you are interested in breeding, there isn't much point in purchasing a het or possible het, because you will just be paying more for a normal looking pet.

Hey Linds,
I was just wondering what that term meant, right now I'm interested in owning one pure B.C.I, for possible breeding in the future but I'm not in a position to breed right away.

Any suggestions of where to get a pure B.C.I??

If I don't see one I like I may get that one from CFRB, but that's not an issue right now.

I'm still working on housing for the boa, I'll post pics soon because I will need some suggestions.

66% het does not mean it carries a het gene, it means that any normal in the litter has a 2:3 chance of having the gene and a 1:3 chance of not carrying it. It means you have slightly better than a 50/50 chance of having a snake with the het gene. Non 100% het animals are from breeding either a het animal or pure morph to another het or a het to normal breeding (morphXnormal=100% hets).
