i just came back home from school, and after school i would mist him and feed him and check things out, guess wut i found, his tummy looked full of something! i dont kno wut, but i think it was leaves off my ficus tree, cause i looked at some branchs and i saw leaves riped out! Is it bad if they have to much, cause if they have little its ok but to much can get him sick. but he looks fine, first time he eat leaves

Hey Meow!

Hmmm. I'd be surprised if a Panther Chameleon would nibble on vegetation, it's something more typical of Veiled's, but I suppose stranger things have happened. Ficus trees are non-toxic to chameleons so I really don't think you will have too much of a problem if he did have a few bites.

The only negative thing I've heard about Ficus is the milky sap you get when you cut or break the branches. This sap can be irritating to a chameleons eyes if he rubs against it and could possibly cause infections. Take a careful look at the plant to ensure you see none of this. If you do, remove the tree and give it a good rinse!

Good luck! Keep me posted.

sap on my fiscus tree is found as what looks like droplets of water on the leaves. When you touch it, it is sticky. I don't think the tree gets much sap until it is very big.

and trace - my panther took a few bites out of her pothos. But she is definately not a grazer like my veileds!
