Has anyone who raises mice fed their mice acorns? My kids brought home a whole bag of acorns to feed to the mice. I don't want to disappoint them, but I don't want to feed the mice something that could eventually hurt my snakes. I figure acorns are a natural food for them? Any other thoughts?

Well, I know that squirrels and chipmunks love acorns, and hoard them during the winter, but to be honest, I've never seen a mouse eat an acorn.

acorns might be a bit big for mice, squirels are closer in size to rats. I think it won't hurt them but they may not eat it specially with the other food being available.

I would think it should be ok to feed them since all the other native rodents eat them. I'd make sure to clean them quite well first though.

the little I know of acorns from native american use was that they contain tannin that needed to be boiled out before they were palatable
