Need to know ASAP- how mcuh do you think I can get for the 90 gallon tank and the storage stand it's on?

I have a very excited buyer at $175, and I'm wondering if I could raise it a bit more?

How much would you pay for this?

Not sure if it helps since I'm in Canada but the best deal I can find on a 50g with stand that is as nice as that one is $300; let alone a 90g.

If you've given him a price of 175, to up it afterwards is uncool. What goes around comes around.

I think you can't complain if you are getting more for it than you paid.

175 would be an absolute steal for that. I'd be excited at that price too! But I agree with Snakey Acres, raising the price afterwards just because you can is not cool. If you raise the price because someone else offers more, on the other hand.... well, that's just the barter system. :)

Yeah I'll up the bid, I'll give you $175.01 (would you mind paying the shipping?)

Oh, is the 175 us or can?

FYI- I posted an ad for the tank in my company’s classifieds. Original ad:

90 gallon aquarium and wood stand (with storage).

28”H X 19”D X 48”L for the stand, and 24”H X 18”D X 48”L for the tank

The last 4 months this tank held 2 snakes, but prior to that it held a fully functioning fish aquarium set up. In the photo the tank has 2 specially made mesh covers for heat lamps to sit upon, but we still have the original aquarium cover that fits over the entire top. The original price was over $350, will sell for $175 or best offer.

"Tammy" emailed me inquiring about it first, then later said she'll take it.
"Kevin" emailed me second, but said he'd like it (before Tammy technically).
Obviously, they both know it's a deal. Ok, yes, I’d like to ham it up for extra cash, but I don’t want to be an @ss about it.

Kevin asked if I still had filters and things for the tank- I promised him that I would not sell the tank until I looked at home for the filters. I won’t be back at work till Thurs. (Packing up the house for the HI move tomorrow)

Kevin left for the day, but Tammy called me and said that she’ll pay me today for it. I’ll keep my promise and not make a decision till Thurs. But I did tell her (and then later emailed Kevin) that I would sell the tank for the advertised amount, but if someone makes me a substantially larger offer, I would take it.

That’s fair, right? It does say "or best offer".
Otherwise, who would you pick?

PS- Tammy emailed me a $200 offer, but I’m still waiting till Thurs.

I dunno it's clear that you'll take the best offer. I go with $1 a gallon for a used tank, that's canadian funds too.

I think alot of places would sell just the stand for like 200 dollars, And the tank for about 80-100 dollars.....so go up as needed..:)

I was out of the office yesterday moving all the stuff out of my house, and I have people matching prices and increasing it to $225. So this is what I sent tot hem all:

Everyone,

Here’s the situation regarding the tank:

I didn’t expect so many responses as fast as I did, and so I didn’t foresee people pushing the price up against each other. There is a good overlap as to who technically said they would buy it first, and everyone made a similar note to ask me to not sell it without letting them know (so they could increase their price). Please understand that this is why I am having a hard time choosing who should have it.

I really don’t want to be a jerk about this, but long story short I- have 4 snakes and 4 tanks (others are smaller than 90 gallons- held snakes, never water) to sell as well. Currently I am getting no money for my snakes, I would like to get something for the tanks if I can.

Since I was out yesterday, someone upped their offer $225. To help make this end, because I said “or best offer” in the ad, I will simply take the best offer as of 4:30 PM today. I don’t mean to turn this into some weird eBay auction, but I can’t decide what way to go.

To those who asked, I do not have any of the filters or any aquarium supplies for the tank. I simply have the tank, stand, and the aquarium cover that goes on top of it. If anyone wants the 2 custom-screened tops that are currently on top of the tank in the ad’s picture, you are more than welcome to them. (If anyone plans on putting reptiles into the tank, I have other supplies we can discuss).

I hope you all understand my situation. Please let me know.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

I feel like crap over this, but I have no idea what I should have done differently.

Should I feel bad?

Down here tanks are a dime a dozen, but that's Southeastern US for you. And usually when someone adds "or best offer" that means if you can't get what your asking you'll take the best offer....not that you will take bids. Just my opinion.

When I added, "or best offer" it was in mind that I wasn't going to get the price I listed; but then people offered me higher prices… Anyway, a guy is coming by tomorrow for the 90 gallon and stand for $225 and a different guy realized that he would rather buy one of my other smaller tanks. So I think it worked out well in the end.

He picked it up yesterday and it all went well. He said he would have easily gone up to #+$300. I'm just glad I made back my money and had extra to play with for the weekend.
