Hey, I was just wondering what precautions you people take to prevent a fire caused by lighting/heating equipment? I just make sure my stuff is wired correctly, I have a smoke detector and a fire extinguisher in our herp room.
very interested in more suggestions.
Cheers

For the most part, I use common sense.
Wired correctly and not overloading plugs. plus the smoke detector, fire extinguisher in the appt.
Plus, if you have anything you wired yourself like a homemade dimmer, make sure all the connections are permanent (marrettes, soldering, eyelets and screws) and not just taped together.

Same type of thing ..fire extinguisher in the herp room and on the way to the herp room along with a couple smoke detectors.
I am in the process of wiring down the Monitors heat heat lamps to the screens. (Ideas welcome). I'm thinking nuts and bolts

That everything is wired correctly, that there is no dust bunny buildup around the outlets, that everything is controlled so it won't overheat, everything is kitty-proofed, smoke detector, etc. etc...
Power bars
Smoke detectors
Fire Extingishers
