Hey everyone,

I have started saving up some money for redecorating my tank. Its 50 gallon with a sliding glass door. (you may have seen it in some of my pictures.

Anyways i just want some suggestions on what to put in there, plants, trees, substrate hides, and stuff that i can build that would look cool. So if you guys could just give me some suggestions and show some pictures of what i should do (that you have in your cages) It would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

check out fabric/craft stores. You can usually find good prices on silk and plastic plants.

I've been looking at a lot of different hides as I just set my first tank up. I did something that looks cool that my new leo seems to love...I took two smaller fake rock hides like you buy at the petstore, and put the openings facing each other. I then found the perfect flat rock and bridged the two. It makes for a good basking rock and also a 3-in-1 hide.

The other thing I just found--I was in Walmart getting a couple gardening things and popped into the fish section. I don't know where you live or if you have access to this type of store, but they had hides that are meant for fish tanks but look just like the reptile ones only MUCH cheaper. They had fake grottos, hollowed logs, etc. for 1/2 the cost of Petco. Some were funky & very cool looking. I want to get one at some point when I redo my setup. I just finished it, though, so it's going to be a while. :)

Lastly, I ordered the small basking stump from www.herpsupplies.com and use it as a moist hide. I have a textured tile floor for substrate, and I put a piece of plastic lid under the stump to help the paper towel inside stay damp longer. The stump has been a big hit so far!

Anyway, good luck & be sure to post pics!

I would be careful with the "bridge", make sure it is secure so that it can't fall on your leo. Other than that sounds great

There's some interesting chunks of mopani wood out there. I've got a couple that are waiting for the right enclosure lol. I don't think I've seen any of your previous posts... how many leos share the 50? A slab of cork bark angled across a corner with plants (fake or not) tucked in behind and dangling down is an idea too. Some interesting rocks siliconed (firmly) together into some natural caves would look nice too.

Let us know how it turns out!
