My 3-4 month old female ate an adult mouse last wednesday. Should I let the bump/absence thereof be my guide as to when to feed her again, or should I feed her a smaller prey item around wednesday. I'm going to try and switch her to rat pups. Any input appreciated

We usually keep the feeding day the same, but increase the size of the meal.
Next time you feed her give her the rat pup, I like to see a lump in the belly for a couple of days then I know they've had a good meal.
Our boa is a year old and he has a med rat every 7 days, he should be going up to large rats soon and then we'll feed him every 10 days.

Offer food every 5-7 days as a baby until you learn to recognize when your snake is hungry. With time you should be able to pick up on your snakes behaviour to recognize when he is hunting around for his prey ;) As for handling, the absence of bump applies more there. It's a good idea to wait 2-3 days after feeding before any handling sessions. Typically this is around the same time the bump disappears in an average sized meal.
