The largest species of mantid, the Chinese mantid (Tenodera aridifolia) was introduced to the U.S. around 1896.

AWESOME shots!! Wow, I can barely keep my egyptian still for ONE second to get a crappy picture, let alonge several to get an amazing picture like yours! Beautiful species, too. Love 'em :D

Nice shots! I use to raise those as well, but mine were stockier with slightly different coloration. The sp I had was aridifolia sinensis. I've got a great shot of a 3rd instar feeding that I'll post as soon as I find it.
