I was just directed to this thread today. I warn you, it's really, really graphic and extremely disturbing (not only the event itself and the images, but also the response to it). Reason number #874 to make sure your snakes are SECURELY kept in enclosures...
Ugh (http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=22720)
OMG that is so horrible! That is so tragic!! I Cannot even imagine that happening to on of my babies. I would be scarred for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yuck. I kinda wish I hadn't looked. Poor snake.

I agree, that sux. But what I noticed first was how knowledgable and informed all the people were on that other forum!! I mean holy shee-at! Some of those dudes knew more about snakes than 90% of the people here! I was blown away.

Ick! Yeah i wish i hadn't looked either! It must be that curiousity from hearing that "you may not want to look, it's disturbing" ::runs home to check enclosures, and looks in car to be sure!::

I think these pics are staged. Looks like two snakes to me, made to look like one large mangled snake. I got all these Monday in one of those email forwards. If I had to guess I would say this is two large balls that died in transport, and the importer decided to have a little fun.

I highly doubt it.
I was gonna post this about a week or so ago but i decided not to.
I wouldn't think this is staged. Who would be willing to place and smear that many guts in various locations all over the engine, even working blood and skin into the smaller areas?
Doesn't make sense but hey if someone was willing to go through THAT much to stage that photo (which personally I cant see happening) then wow they need a day job.

Well, take the last picture for instance. That is a v8 engine that should be about 3 feet in length. You see 3 feet of snakes on the top, and another 3 feet showing on the side. Given what we don’t see, this ball would have been 7 to 8 feet. I submit that we see 2 snakes in the photo. One laid on the top with the tail cut off, and one laid on the side with the head cut off. Then look at the pavement in the top right hand corner. This pic was supposedly taken beside an interstate, that looks like a parking lot to me. And when as anyone seen a ball python in pain lay out straight? Hence the name “ball” python. If one was truly caught in a fan, they would immediately ball up.

Man those pics are really disturbing :S Staged or not it's awfull. Like Lilyskip said if it is stage it's even more disturbing. You would have to be pretty F***** in the head to to something like that! I'll be making extra sure my babies are in a secure encloser now!
Consider that maybe the snake was STRETCHED while being cranked through the car's engine. Snake skin is pretty stretchy and all the vertebrae may be popped out.
ether way it is nasty I wish I did not suffer from the if i am toled not to look I have to look!

Notice in picture 2, snake one’s tail has began to taper down, the vent appears to be just behind that reservoir. Now notice snake two in picture 5. The taper is gone. The front of that snake is as thick as the middle of snake one.
What I see is that, the snake has been split open at the top of that crank so it looks like it's big, and then the body has twisted so it looks smaller.

Just look at the 2 last pics, you an clearly see that they moved the snake around. The last pic, we can see a part of the body in front of the motor betwen the fan and the motor. On the pic above, there are no snakes parts there....
Who would kill 2 snakes?

Adn how convenient he had a camera with him when he was going to work....
Just too many tings make this a staged event.
And last thing, this is an an NSX. If he was on a highway going to work, that motor would be very hot. Watch the blood driping, it's pure red, if the motor would have been hot, the blood would have cooked right there

It was a ball python, a very widely and commonly kept animal.. I've yet to actually meet anyone who didn't know what a ball python was, and I'd hope everyone here knows what a ball is and know there killing tatics..
I will say this, most of these guys weren't all excited and making jokes on it.. Asides from prova4re, ak and NeoNSX, but someone should let them in on the fact they need to start driving real cars, plus three out of 9 isn't bad, that's what I was surprised with..
However, I agree with Chuck an Sire..

Who would kill 2 snakes?
I don’t think anyone killed $100 worth of snakes just to play this prank. Those adult balls are ordered in lots of 100 to 500 from Africa and many die in transit. I think some importer or someone working with an importer grabbed the 2 largest dead balls and went out to the parking lot and made these pics. I am sure these pics are staged, the details of the staging are nothing more then speculation.
Actually I often have a camera in the car.

I am not sure what happened right bgefore the pictures were taken- but I must say that I do hope that it was staged with previously deceased snakes. OMG, I just thought, what if they took dead snakes, then turned the car on?
Oh I curse my immagination sometimes! Sorry.
:(
Its a RSX not an NSX (it still gonna be hot like anyother car though) and only a 2.0L 4cylinder not a v8. But it does look staged, not sure why anybody would go through the time of spreading snake guts all over their motor just to snap off a few pics to show to their internet friends... seems extremely pointless

I don't think it's staged. Who in their right (or wrong) mind would stage something like this. It kills animals, can possibly damage engine components, and would be a big and discusting cleanup job.

That is what I don't understand.
Some of you honestly think that this person (whoever it is, importer with dead snakes, or not) is going to A. Either cut this snake up himself and cover the entire engine of the car with blood and guts, or you think B. They put an already dead snake on the engine and started it and covered the engine and inside of the car with guts and blood and snake parts?
Doesn't sound feesable (sp) to me for a couple stupid internet photos.

3 ft. manifold on an acura????? not a hope in he**. I drive an impala with a 454 bigblock and it's only 22 inches across. that manifold is gererously 18 inches MAXIMIM.
Secondly, the poster states he recieved the story via E-mail (via friend of a friend, etc), so details were likely corrupted long before he recieved it. It was likely the car owner's pet snake in his driveway, not 40 miles down the interstate. I think the story is more filled with fiction than the photos.
GD
My question is this, why the hell would you have posted this picture on the forum, other than to sicken people? I can understand a pic of a snake that has been eaten by a mouse or rat to teach us not to feed live, but what does this prove? Not to let your BP go out for a stroll? Or not to drive your car? Or at least, to check under the hood every time you attempt to start your car JUST IN CASE there is a BP on it? I think this picture was posted in poor taste.

I want to kill that one guy joking about the boots and belt....BLAH BLAH GRRRRRR
That photo you use as an example of yes someone would is totally different. In that situation there was no car engine covered in blood and guts which would take hours of detailing and cleaning. Why would someone almost ruin the engine filth wise for those photos? That would be stupid.
That photo is also to make people fear "man eating" snakes. No one is going be scared of ball pythons on their engines from now on, it doesn't serve the same purpose as the above doctored photo.

If I had my choice of putting a dead snake on my car engine and crawling inside a dead one you better believe that dead snake would be on my car engine. You forget that the computer is a very good tool. Pictures can be altered and doctored to look like anything. I do not even think this snake was ever on the engine. Someone computer imposed it. There is a picture floating around of this that actually shows the hood up. If this snake had gotten caught in the fan belt blood would have been sent much further and that snake would by no means have stayed inside the engine compartment.

Marisa, I am totally losing respect for your sense of reason. There was no blood all over the engine. Clean up from those pics would take less then 5 minutes.

A closer look would reveal a few blood splatters on the engine and what looks like gristle on various parts.

It could be Staged I couldnt prove it either way. You people would be amazed at how snakes can get into cars though I highly Doubt it would move towards the loud Vibrating hot block of metal though. it would Probley find a Lip on the bumper or squeese into a spot above the wheel well. unless of course this happened in the person's driveway things like this happen A Cat Crawled into my uncles Truck and had her babys near the fan He hopped in his truck to head to work And WAP WAP WAP.... take a Wild guess what happened....
that pic is stages but not for the reasons people stated. Anyone ever had a belt snap on a car? it would have enough force to "cut" a snake like that this is cut (it dented the hood of my car, and cut the insulation), however the belt would still be clearly visable in the the pic, had it snapped. To me it looks like the took the belt out, to stage the pic.
Don't worry, loose any respect for my sense of reason you want because I am done reasoning with you, you are never wrong, ever, and that's the bottom line in a thread involving you no matter what its about.

I expect more from people who claim to be reptile enthusiasts. These pics circulated the internet well before Lilly put them up here. When they went around our office everyone sent them to Joe, Barry, and I. We probably got them about 15 times. We didn’t take the time to explain to the general population why they were fakes, its just a waste of time. I would have never thought I would have to explain to so called snake people. Not only having to point out they are fakes, but having some of them try to debate the obvious fact is ridiculous. I want to see this type of hype stopped, but if the pranksters can so easy fool the herp community, then imagine the fun they are having with the general population. I don’t suppose the end is in sight. How many have seen the one about what the FL eclectic company found? That one showed a huge gater that was captured in TX and I drain pipe with about 50 WESTERN diamondbacks in it. Of course, everyone here had to show me. It wasn’t worth the time to explain there are no WDB anywhere near FL. How about the one where the big American croc ate the guy off of the golf course in FL. No one seemed to care it was a salt water croc in the pic. These are all so ridiculous. Sorry Marisa, I guess I expected more from you. Keep the crap circulating!
That snake looks pretty good to me as well for being stuck like that. Its head was intact, think about it. What snake is going in from behind? It most likely entered from underneath the car, I highly doubt the snake would have gone through far enough not to be pulled back and not have its entire body and head chewed up. use some common sense here! its a hoax. I think some people like to look at worst case scenarios to complain about someone elses neglect.. Or make up someone elses neglect in some of these photo hoax cases..

... Are you sure that's even a ball python? I don't know much about balls, but it looks kind of like a bigger snake. No offence to anyone, I don't know much about them, so don't get mad. But it almost looks like just one big snake. Where the tail tapers.. isnt that where half of it is wrapped around the fan? I thought it was a real pic at first, now with all this debate i'm not really sure...

Well I can tell you that the snake inside the pc was fake, first how did the snake get into the PSU. It would have had to go through the fans since there isn't any other openeing on it that the snake could get through. The snake would have probably died in the way in and not on the way out not from the fan but from being fried since somehow the fan didn't scare it away.
Now the picture of the Snake under the hook looks pretty legit.
The belts broken on the car and it looks pretty consistant with the damage the snake has on it and the amount of for lack of a better word snake parts on various peice of the engine. If its a hoax then someone took alot of time with it. Look at the snake, its skinned form neck to where its stuck in the pulley, there are rubber burns on the snakes body, the ribs are broken in a way that would be hard to fake, and the skin is wrapped in the pulley.

What I think is sad is that 1 or 2 snakes are dead likely in some horrible way and we sit here and yell at each other about weather it is staged or not, who the hell cares if it's fake or not the fact is their dead and that is what we should be pissed about.
