I'm sure there are some people who are sick of hearing about the hognose I'm getting soon....but TS....heheheh

I'm getting a W. hognose hatchling in mid august or so, and was wondering whether I should start him off in a small rubbermaid, or just get a bigger one right away? Actually any advice at all would be appreciated, I've never had a snake before and I'm worried about things like heating and humidity. I've done tons of research, but would appreciate some first-hand knowlege on the matter...
Thanks

Jen, Jen, Jen...I've told you before...you can start it off in a big rubbermaid, but he might feel insecure and be testy, and might refuse food...now you can provide hides and whatnot to alleviate this, or you can start him off in a shoebox, if you're really worried...you know how my worm acts, but chicome wasn't like that at all...and she was in a 20 gallon as a baby...as for the heat, don't let it go past 90F and don't let it drop below 70F and you'll be fine. Humidity isn't a big deal, only when it's shedding, and what I do is when they're in the blue (foggy eyes) I throw in a margarine container filled with damp paper towel, they spend a few days in there and shed like a dream. Easy peasy! Typical colubrid husbandry applies.

I know, I know.....I just want to be sure....I'm pretty neurotic about new animals I've never had before....actually I'm just neurotic I think

small tupperware they seem to do better, be sure to provide a burrowing substrate and be prepared for the feeding strikes
