Motley Amel. Shed?

As you all know we just got a baby Motley Amel Corn from SMR, and was wondering..........

All we have is BP's, so we know when they are going to shed....
But how do you tell when the Motley Amel is going to shed? If anyone has any pics of a motley amel going into shed that would be great.

What do we look for? Any info would be great!!!!!

Actually any snake that is going into shed will have it's eyes in 'blue' or cloudy/milky. Once you see it in that mode, it will turn to 'normal' color again in a few days (or a week) and then a few days after it turns back to the 'normal' coloration it will start to shed.

It's just like your ball pythons. No worries~

ok good, because the way she is eating I'm sure she will be going into shed in a few weeks....

The thing with any albino snake is that sometimes it can be very hard to tell whether they are in shed or not. There will be a dull of colour and a bit of lightening in the eyes that is sort of hard to see with babies especially.

Oh yes, she finally struck at the pink instead of just "sniffing" it for like 20 minutes. I hope we can tell, we've had her for about 3 weeks....:) She refuses to stay on her warm side though!!! But then again so does my "female" (not sure) BP.......lol maybe it's a "girl" thing???

Chances are, believe it or not, if your corn has taken 3 pinkies so far, it could probably handle a small fuzzie. Try it! ;)

Oh we probably will be getting some this coming week, but we gotta get rid of all these pinks first! lol........what about her refusing to stay on the warm side. Any idea why she does that?

The only reason I could really think of is that maybe the hide on the warm side makes her feel more secure than the one on the cool side, it's pretty hard to keep a cornsnake too cold so shes not there to sop up extra heat if shes there all the time.

no no no......she REFUSES to go on her warm side. She seems to prefer the cool side.

Oh!!! Silly me, you must cope with me I have a bad eye infection right now and I can't see very well LOL. Usually when they won't go on the warm side the hot spot is too warm or they are being kept too warm in general.

How long have you had her? When I first got my female boa she stayed on the cool side for a few days. She was just getting comfortable. Now she ventures all over the enclosure. Just a thought

Oh we haven't had her very long. But she goes all over the cage. The hot spot is only 83 (80-85 degrees hot side, 70-75 degrees' cool side).........She just took 2 small (very small) pinks last night, so when the pinks are gone she will get large pinks or fuzzies.

Another thing, she gave us the old "corn snake scare" today!!!! We went to check the temps of the snakes (always do in the afternoon) and we couldn't find her......I look at the top of the tank.........she was on the "lip" of the cage!!!!!!! And she is just small enough to where the top of the lid covered her body! So we couldn't see her until we leaned over and looked at the "bottom" of the lid!!!!!!

amels are easy to spot in shed, their normal bright colors go pastel. I actually wish a corn was produced in those colors, the red changes to pale rose, the orange goes pale and soft, much different from my blizzard that unless I spot her eyes winds up leaving sheds as a surprise.

Ya she is definitly in shed! I can't wait to see her colors afterwords!!!!!!!!!!

We will try, but trying to save money to leave while getting only 5.20 dollars (american) an hour, and only about 20 hours in ONE week.....doesn't leave much money for things like getting pics devloped, or getting a digi cam. Leaves enough money for snake food, and putting very minimal amount away...:(

Well her eyes cleared up, so it's only a matter of time before she sheds! wooohoooooo!!!! :)

Well she finally shed! We caught her when she was half way done. I just put the shed between my fingers and she basicly crawled out out of it.....she's a deeper red, orange and light orange.........maybe one day we'll have pics....
