All burms seem to grow that fast in the first year. I've heard of some making 10ft. in the first year and then slowing down. Never say never though. But 12-14ft is a good estimate for a male burm.

lol, a 20 foot female CB Burm is practicly unheard of, if it is growing fast that probly just means ur doing everything u should be, keep it up ;)

your male burm will probably never be 20ft long. The females are the ones that get big (i've seen a 25 footer) but i have never heard of a males even over 18 ft

20 ft is an excetionally large burm even for a female. I have seen very large burms that people have claimed are more than 20ft and in actuality are about 14-15ft which is probably the average for a female. If anyone out there actually has a 20ft burm i would love to see it or pics shown with a scale to prove it.

THere is one burm that I KNOW of that is 20ft+. She is 26'10'', Baby. The chances are VERY slim but your chances are even lower due to the fact that you have a male. He will max out at about 12-15'.

my burm is a little over 4 months and has been growing 10 inches a month so far! I did a little research and they grow really fast in the first year. I did not know this cause my boa only grew like 3-4 inches per month. The growth of my burm was a little overwhelming at first, but hey I hope mine can get up to at least 16 feet. What I find beutiful about large snakes is there size.

Are you 100% certain it a male??
I had a female grow to 9.5' in her first year, and a male that only grew to 5'in his first year.
Also after 10' burms tend to start putting on weight rather then length which in it self makes them look much longer then they are.

Um Gareth.....I wouldnt "frown" at your snake not attaining such a lenght. I'm not sure you know the power of these animals. It isnt safe to handle an 8' plus snake.....imagine a 20 footer??

Anacondasaurus I wouldnt go as low as 10ft........it would be more accurate to assume 12-15ft probably

20’ burms are very rare. I know of at least one reptile museum actively seeking a 20’ specimen and can not find one. 8 feet in the first year is not uncommon. I have seen plenty top 10 in a year. I have two adult males. One imported in 1990. He is 14’ and one captive born in 1998, he is 17’. The father to my CB was 18’ and hands down the largest male I have seen. Snakemann, baby is dead!

i think he has done well considering he had a ri and mites when i had him in november 2002 and was 26inches long i would like him to be 15f but if not i will still enjoy having him, he is so friendly never bitten or striked.

thanks gareth.

Trust me man 10 feet dont sound big on paper but in real life once yours actualy reaches that you start asking your self how you got it that big. Then you start praying to the snake gods that it don't add another 5 feet. but you will love it trust me they are verry rewarding animals once they are big and in a larg cage they makes somthing to look at and be proud of.

thanks for all the reply's i spoke to a reptile rescue centre today and they reockon i must of power fed my burm but i cant under stand how, he only eats every 7-10 days and they said he should be only 4-5 foot,

considering burms are 18-24" @ birth i think it is more accurate to say it should be at least 4-5' by the end of the first year, and as many in here have said it is common for burms to hit 10' in their first year. So i would not worry about over feeding. IMOover feeding happens more in older snakes that are less active and have slowed in growth therefore do not need the food energy that a young fast growing active snake needs.
It sounds to me you have a well fed healthy burmese.
