That's what I thought! I never see them fully extended while upside-down. They are always coiled. I open the cage and she plopped right-side-up right away and hissed at me, so she's ok. Sure a weird sight when you're half-asleep though!

There's a few things that tell me that she's gravid:
1) Here's a picture of her ovulating on June 5th

2) She won't eat (and hasn't since March) and she's my best feeder.
3) She breeds every 2 years like clockwork.
4) She's the fattest Ball Python I have and hasn't had any caloric intake since Marh (unless water has calories?).

5) I've never had a Ball Python lay inverted unless it was gravid or it had eaten. Especially inverted like that! I've only seen Burms lay like that.

Jeff,
Well, if you've seen her ovulate then she's gravid! The reason I asked is that in the pic her belly looks concaved (sunk inward) which would lead me to believe that her mid body did not have eggs. Also, I have never had any of my gravid balls lay upside down in an "L" position. When mine are building up for ovulation they lay in an upside down "L" or "C" but when they are gravid it is always a really tight "O".
If she ovulated June 5th she is over due for laying her eggs.

WAY overdue! Its crazy. I've never seen this "l" either. Its always the C or O with mine as well. I think something must not be right with her. She was a rescue for me about 10 years ago. Perhaps she's run her course? I got her and her head was burned and she was partially blind. I'll just have to wait and see. I'll try increasing the humidity tonight to simulate low pressure. I guess that's all I can do.
She's definitely huge. Its hard to tell when she's upside down, but she is, and has been for a month, bursting at the seems!
I tried to snap a photo but this is the only one that turned out, just before she crawled onto the heat pad.

I hope she isn’t egg bound!..
Because she will die if those eggs don’t pass throw…
