how do you tell if a berded dragon is male or female.
-offspring-
Depending on how old s/he is you can tell by lifting the tail and right at the base of the tail there should be 2 bumps if its a male(1 of each side of the tail) or if its a female there will be one bump in the middle. They can be hard to sex if the are too young because some develop much later then others and one thought to be a female could turn out male.
Depending on the age, it can be difficult. Usually after about 6 months you can see pores on the inside thighs of a male (femoral pores) becoming noticeable and they become more pronounced with age. Adult males also generally have larger heads and thicker less tapered tails. There are other methods such as checking the width of the cloaca but it takes an experienced eye.
