My boa Vamp is a laid back boa, he doesn't really roam around, if he likes a spot in a certain area, he'll sit there for hours n hours without moving. Today was the first time my Boa took a rat pup. Well wat i did was i took the rat by the tail and kept on wiggling it and he'd move closer. After hes close enough for a strike, he'd strike once and then i'd let go of the rat. He just sits there and doesn't start eating. I then take the rat, dangle it once more and he comes and opens his mouth and takes it from my hand. Neat huh!!! what an interesting experience. Heh it was wiered, never seen snakes do that before.

I guess he's so used to F/T, he never constricts them...

Yeah I'd say more than half my snakes don't constrict their prey. Gotta be careful handfeeding though, not a good habit to get in to.

Boas do that all the time. In nature, expending energy unecessarily usually spells doom.

Snakes/reptiles are the best conservationists in the world in terms of energy. Perfectly normal.

Not a good practice to get into man. use a set of tongs or hemostats or something.
pretty soon that snake is gonna be big and end up tagging you.

I just simply use a set of 18" bar-b-Q tongs.
